wolstech Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 So, digging into this further, this is definitely a DNS issue somewhere. I can't get your domain to resolve at all on major DNS providers like Google. Until that works, AutoSSL won't work either. > vidon.net 8.8.8.8 Server: [8.8.8.8] Address: 8.8.8.8 *** 8.8.8.8 can't find vidon.net: Server failed > vidon.net 8.8.4.4 Server: [8.8.4.4] Address: 8.8.4.4 *** 8.8.4.4 can't find vidon.net: Server failed > If I query our own NS, that doesn't resolve either (comes back as "No response from server"), even though the zones exist and are in sync. Oddly, the domain works if I visit it. I'm going to remove and re-add your domain and see if that makes a difference since the registrar is insistent it's not them.
Krydos Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 I already deleted his domain, and re-added it once. It didn't help last time. Back to the original point of this thread, AutoSSL isn't going to work as long as your nameservers don't show up for 50% of the world, but you still may be able to manually install an ssl certificate using our instructions here https://wiki.helionet.org/Installing_a_Let%27s_Encrypt_SSL_Certificate
sportnix Posted February 9, 2020 Author Posted February 9, 2020 (edited) you still may be able to manually install an ssl certificate using our instructions here https://wiki.helione...SSL_CertificateNot really, it could be the same reason AutoSSL doesn't work, the Free SSL Certificate Wizard fails at stage 2 (Verification), returning this error after pushing NEXT:DNS problem: SERVFAIL looking up A for mydomain.net - the domain's nameservers may be malfunctioning Edited February 9, 2020 by sportnix
wolstech Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 That's the same issue. Until you can figure out why half the world can't see your domain, there's not much more you can do.
sportnix Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 I replaced heliohost's nameservers with cloudflare's and it propagated right away, I was finally able to run AutoSSL, it's all green now.I should probably wait until it crashes again before swapping back...
Krydos Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Usually cloudflare causes more problems than it solves. I'm glad it actually helped someone for once.
