HelioHost Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/A Hi, I was a Tommy user, and have waited for his repair. I understand that he is now back in service, and I'm wondering if I'll get an invitation to re-upload my website (which is locally created, edited and ftp'd to the server). I'm sorry to bother you, but having donated a couple times, I thought I'd get an early invitation. Please just let me know if I should be doing something other than waiting (and please be specific; I'm not all that tech smart ?). Thank you for providing this wonderful service. Flaze Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 I'm assuming that you did not create a new account after Tommy failed. So here: Once your turn is up, you will receive an invitation link on your old account's email.
Flaze Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Note: After clicking the invitation link, do not sign up for your old domain/subdomain since a root admin has to release the domain for you. You can make a support request on the forum, if you still want to reuse it.
gvr590 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Thank you for your reply flzp. Again, I'm really a babe in the woods with this stuff... my site worked perfectly for years, but I'm not versed with all the technicalities. When you say "You can make a support request on the forum, if you still want to reuse it", where specifically (what/which forum) do I post that, and what wording do I use? I simply want to get back where I was by uploading my site again via ftp. I'm sorry to be so dense, but as I say, it was working fine before the crash and I'm at a loss now as to how to proceed exactly. Thanks again. I don't mean to frustrate you.
Flaze Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Post it in the Customer Service forum. Here's an example: Title: Release my domainContent: Please release the domain [insert your main domain that you used on Tommy] from the DNS cluster.
gvr590 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Okay, thank you for that. I have yet another question: regarding the "domain" I am requesting to be released... would that be this?: greenvalleyrecording.heliohost.org? Thank you again for your patience. I'll pass it on in MY area of expertise.
Sn1F3rt Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Yes and if you'd any other add-ons in your previous account.
gvr590 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Sayan... what constitutes an "add-on"? I had an e-mail account... that's the only thing.
Byron Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 greenvalleyrecording.heliohost.org should be available. An Addon domain is just a sub domain of your account that acts as it's on domain.

Luigi123 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 (edited) Say that you want to get a domain for example system.com. You can buy a domain from namecheap.com, I just got mine from their site and we are partners with them too. Visit our site at https://www.heliohost.org/partners/ for more info. After you purchase your first domain, login to our cPanel system, and under domains tab, click on "Addon Domains". Then in the first box, type in your new domain into the first box that you purchase from Namecheap and leave everything blank and click on "Add Domain". Example system.com. Once you done that, you need to add our nameservers, and that is ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org to your Namecheap account. Step 1. Login to your Namecheap account. Step 2. Click on "Domain List" on the left bar. Step 3. Next to your domain, click the down button and choose "manage" Step 4. Under Nameservers tab, click the drop down button and choose "Custom DNS" and add our nameservers that I provided to you above and click the check mark to save it and you are done. Please note that it will take about 24-48 hours for your new domain to work. Edited October 1, 2019 by Luigi123

I just need to get my website uploaded from my local computer back on Tommy somehow, and I don't know how to do that...
Byron Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Did you check here to see if you have a backup from Tommy just before he went down? https://www.heliohost.org/backup/
