HelioHost Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Username: barpat, Server: Ricky, Main domain: app3ti.ga Why is my website always not loading every several minutes? I use rickywhich has 99.99% active time. But I always received code 500 error. Even mycloudflare tells it.
wolstech Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 500 error usually indicates a bad .htaccess file, permissions issue (files need to be 644 permissions to run) or software that's broken, usually stuck in an infinite loop or too heavy to run here (WP and Magento are known causes). To troubleshoot it, my first suggestion is to remove CloudFlare because it's known to cause issues here. Second, rename all htaccess files so they're ignored, and verify your file permissions. After that, if you use WordPress, disable/remove all of the extensions (or replace WP entirely, it's horrible software and is infamous for being poorly coded, inefficient, and also easily hacked).
HelioHost Posted March 17, 2019 Author Posted March 17, 2019 But someone did the same thing as i do, but only he uses another hostingprovider, a free, and the other one is paid. two of them work well. Usingwordpress, all of plugins is active, and using cloudflare. No problemfound. Please be honest what is happening? It just happens at heliohost. wolstech Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 It's because our hardware is both configured differently and overloaded due to demand. The hardware you're on is also our oldest, from 2005...our newest is Tommy with hardware from 2011 that we bought used in 2016...buying hardware is difficult for us due to money. Back in the day we were very profitable, but it isn't the mid-00s anymore unfortunately, and we haven't finished a year in the black since 2012 or so). Being a 501c3 means we can't sell our product (and we don't want to anyway, that's the entire point of heliohost), so we're entirely ad and donation funded. Ever since our ads started paying much less (google sucks), it's been difficult to cover bills let alone afford new hardware without fundraisers. Wordpress has never run particularly well here even on the best of days, and it's a leading cause of suspension too. My recommendation is to move to tommy, or replace Wordpress if you want to stay here. Most other "free" hosts out there aren't actually free, they're just strapped to the side of a paid hosting company that has tons of money to buy new hardware on a regular basis. That's also why they always cripple it and push you into paying for their paid product. We don't have any of that. If you prefer to not stay here, you can cancel your account here: http://heliohost.org/classic/support/scripts/delete
HelioHost Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 That's what I want to know. Telling the truth is must. You knew this, butyou still say "99.99% uptime". wolstech Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 In its heyday it was, but we have very old hardware by today's standards because of changing economics making it impractical to replace. Tommy's track record over the past week was about 99.94%, but that doesn't account for the several hour outage yesterday because one of its partitions is full. Ricky has actually been up 99.41% over the past week, but it's slow. Johnny has a 95% uptime due to overloading and abuse. If you're curious about how we actually perform, all of our server performance and uptime history back to 2010 is available here: http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/ (This is an independent monitoring service that is NOT not owned or operated by HelioHost, as a result, it provides an independent view of our performance as seen from an outside organization).
