miwilc Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Apprently NS records don't show up as a option in the advanced DNS Zone editor, can this be enabled so that I can add NS records? Username: miwilcDomain: miwilc.meServer: Tommy
Luigi123 Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 This support request is being escalated to our root admin.
wolstech Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 I'm fairly certain that Cpanel doesn't support it. Krydos will know for sure, but you may end up needing to use CloudFlare or similar to do this.
Krydos Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 To set the nameserver records for miwilc.me you will need to go to the registrar's website that you purchased that domain from. We are not a domain registrar so we cannot set the ns records for you.
miwilc Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 You misunderstood, I want to be able to set NS records for a _subdomain_ of miwilc.me not the root domain itself. Is this possible?
Krydos Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Will setting the IP address of the A record of the subdomain work for what you're trying to do?
miwilc Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 No, I want to create NS records to point to my VPS so that I can create/delete/modify a couple of resource intensive test programs that require their own subdomains to run. It doesn't make sense to host the A/AAAA records (although I am using it like this now) on Helio, since I would be needing to change (subdomain) names frequently and be sending high (test) traffic on it. It would be nice to setup the NS records but I could survive without it, I guess
wolstech Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 You're looking for subdomain delegation... If you use cloudflare as the DNS, I think you can do this. You should be able to set it up through cPanel (use a "full" zone setup so it copies all of our records to make the initial zone), then log into cloudflare directly and add NS records for the relevant subdomains. After that, point your domain to cloudflare at your registrar.
