[Solved] Setup A (Sub)Domain Name

Hello,

 

I would like to ask how to setup a subdomain pointed to heliohost ?

 

For example, I have mydomain.com already, and I also have mine.heliohost.org.

And then I want to setup new.mydomain.com points to mine.heliohost.org, so when people open new.mydomain.com will open mine.heliohost.org

I've tried to add a new.mydomain.com A record in advance zone editor, but it's not working since it will automatically add suffix so it become "new.mydomain.com.mine.heliohost.org"

 

I also have tried to remove ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com from mydomain.com, and add ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com point to ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org, and add new.mydomain.com in the alias menu, but still didn't work with error "Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server".

But if I must wait for a few hours after change the ns*.mydomain.com to ns*.heliohost.org before adding the alias, I couldn't do that, since my other services in mydomain.com would fail.

 

For information, I have other.mydomain.com hosted in different hosting company, and in that hosting configuration, it only add a "other.mydomain.com" as A record, and I also only need to add a "other.mydomain.com" as A record in mydomain DNS record.

 

What should I do to be able to use mine.heliohost.org as mydomain.com ?

It helps things be a lot less confusing if you let us know the actual names of the domains so we can check settings for you, but I would just use this page https://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/frontend/paper_lantern/subdomain/index.html to create a subdomain. If you're trying to make yourdomain.com show the same thing as your.heliohost.org then you could use https://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/frontend/paper_lantern/park/index.html

So my domain name is regtakom.com, and I want to redirect disk.regtakom.com to rk4.heliohost.org

But it's not working, if I open rk4.heliohost.org, the index.php is executed, but when I open disk.regtakom.com it showed account queued.

I've set disk.regtakom.com as A record in DNS to 65.19.143.6, and I'm unable to add disk.regtakom.com into heliohost aliases, saying "Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server".

And I also unable to insert it as DNS A record since the page will automatically make it as disk1.regtakom.com.rk4.heliohost.org

 

So how to set it up correctly ? Any help will appreciated.

You're trying to host a single subdomain of a domain that's hosted elsewhere...cPanel's official answer is that this is not supported. However, we can make it work.

 

You need to use the subdomain in question as your main domain. If you do this, http://rk4.heliohost.org will no longer function. You can't have both. You should be able to change your main domain yourself by signing into www.heliohost.org (note that the option for this is NOT in cPanel, but in the "Heliohost tools" section).
