mirandat Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 If I make multiple donations, will I be able to have multiple accounts on Tommy?
wolstech Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Our Terms of Service limits users to one account unless we approve otherwise. If we do approve, the second account will need to be on a different server (Johnny for now, though in theory you could ask for a Stevie account instead if you wait until he's repaired). What's the reason you need a second account (please note that disk space is not an acceptable reason)?
mirandat Posted January 6, 2017 Author Posted January 6, 2017 I manage a website for a friend and want an account for myself as well.Johnny is down often so I wanted to make a donation and switch to Tommy for my friend.
Krydos Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 You can host as many domains and as many sites as you want on one account. Why do you need two accounts?
mirandat Posted January 12, 2017 Author Posted January 12, 2017 I wanted I website for my friend and one for myself, how can I have two domains?
Krydos Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 If you create an addon domain it will be separate from the rest of your domains. You can even create email addresses for them, and ftp accounts that can only access their addon domain.
mirandat Posted January 22, 2017 Author Posted January 22, 2017 If I create an add on domain, I need to own this domain?
Krydos Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Not necessarily. As long as the nameservers are ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org and the domain doesn't already exist in our system you can add it as an addon domain.
mirandat Posted January 22, 2017 Author Posted January 22, 2017 How do I set the nameservers? The Wiki says this: How can I create an Addon Domain? After logging into your personal cPanel, click on the 'Addon Domains' button and fill in the details and submit the form. After that, navigate to your domain registrar's website and configure your domain with the following nameservers: ns1.heliohost.org ns2.heliohost.org The parked domain you have just setup will be be configured to reflect the 'Document Root' you specified. But I cannot submit the form with domain mirandaterlaak.heliohost.org, I get a message saying: (XID 2wx3pg) The domain “mirandaterlaak.heliohost.org” may not be created by “mirandat” because “heliohost.org” is already owned by another user.
wolstech Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 At the registrar website. You need to own it and do it on the site of the registrar where you bought it. If you need a free domain, you can get one ending in .tk or a few others from www.freenom.com
mirandat Posted January 22, 2017 Author Posted January 22, 2017 But Krydos said: Not necessarily. As long as the nameservers are ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org and the domain doesn't already exist in our system you can add it as an addon domain.
Krydos Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 If you don't own the domain you'd need to ask whoever does own it to set the NS records for you.
mirandat Posted January 22, 2017 Author Posted January 22, 2017 Will I be able to use mirandaterlaak.heliohost.org?
Krydos Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Oh sorry, I thought we were talking about a .com or some other purchased domain. You can't have two domain.heliohost.org domains on the same account... ...without help. Here you go http://mirandaterlaak.heliohost.org/ Put your files in public_html/mirandaterlaak 1
