azmender22
HI, I am Administrating/writing a web site for a friend's business site. She wants a super reliable web site and now is requesting SSL for secure emails. She has her domain name already registered, and the web site is azseniorservices.com on heliohost.net Johnny server. Question: Is it worth moving from Johnny to Stevie SSL, because the Server reliability is currently better? (Sometimes her users cant get to the web site....) Will Johnny SSL be more stable, or should I go ahead and move it over to Stevie SSL because of server load? As soon as I know which would be better from your Admin perspective, and best for her business web site, I will move or not move per your advise, and I will provide her Paypal email address so she can pay the $12 SSL fee. Are there any other fees yet to paid? Also is this the correct place to request SSL? Many THanks ahead of time!! wolstech
Johnny will always be the less reliable server, since it's used for testing upgrades and for services that cause a lot of load (e.g. Java). There's times when it's down for hours, and others where it's up for days straight. Johnny has been down several times so far today, for several minutes each time: http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/ Stevie hasn't been down at all. If up-time is the priority and you don't need things like Java or Ruby, use Stevie. As for SSL, a mod or admin will probably be able to explain it better, but you usually pay first, then post the transaction number and the account you want the IP put on. An admin verifies the payment and adds the IP address. The only fee is the $12 for the IP address.
Krydos
Everything wolstech said is accurate. However, the $12, dedicated ip, and SSL is primarily for https which is if you want to view your website through a browser with a secure connection. If you would like to access your webmail through ssl you can visit https://johnny.heliohost.org:2096/ and if you would like to use SSL/TLS for an external email client (such as a phone or outlook) you can log into your cPanel account at http://heliohost.org/ click "email accounts", locate/create the address you want to use, click the "more" dropdown box on the far right, select "configure email client", and scroll down to the manual settings section. The email settings for a johnny account should be similar to: Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended) Username: username@domain.heliohost.org Password: Use your cPanel password. Incoming Server: johnny.heliohost.org IMAP: Port 993 POP3: Port 995 Outgoing Server: johnny.heliohost.org SMTP: Port
