  1. weird, thank you, guess I put back website one file at time now
  2. Hello, my username is feeldumb. I am trying to get my 4 websites from Stevie working on Tommy. I wrote a test perl program called "hello.pl" Here it is; #!/usr/bin/perluse cPanelUserConfig;# hello.pl - My first CGI programprint "Content-Type: text/html\n\n";# Note there is a newline between # this header and Data# Simple HTML code followsprint "<html> <head>\n";print "<title>Hello, world!</title>";print "</head>\n";print "<body>\n";print "<h1>Hello, world!</h1>\n";print "</body> </html>\n";I put this in in /home/feeldumb/entiaacctg/www, which is the root for entiaacctg.tk. I set its permissions to 755. When I enter http://entiaacctg.tk/hello.pl it works just fine, great. So I copied the file to /home/feeldumb/honeywebph/www, which is root for honeywebph.tk Checked permissions 755 But when I enter http://honeywebph.tk/hello.pl I get Internal Server Error. Anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?
  3. Hello, my username is feeldumb. I now have an account on Tommy. It will not allow me to have any of my 4 websites in my home directory, the way they were on Stevie. The 4 websites are: teaseleather.tk cbeacctg.tk entiaacctg.tk honeywebph.tk I want them the way they were on Stevie, please, with their roots in: /home/teaseleather/www /home/cbeacctg/www /home/entiaacctg/www /home/honeywebph/www I try to change them in cpanel with addon, but it will not allow me to remove pyblic_html from the document root. Please see http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/27132-2017-01-05/page-2 Thank you!

When I create a website, the URL points to a subdirectory of the main directory, so browser users cannot see the files in the main directory, where I keep private stuff, like my hit logs, and user names and passwords. If everything is a subdirectory of public_html, someone with the correct URL could examine all my data. And that was the way I had it on Stevie, and that worked for years, and all of my backed up files are set up for that. I have also seen that krydos allowed someone else to do that on Tommy, for the same reason. I also see that my websites have been down so long that freenom.com has removed all of my 4 domains. I will try and replace them. Hurray, I got all 4 of my free .tk domain names back. And all of them show contents of the wrong subdirectories. I have no idea if my websites will work properly, and below their www roots, if go to bluegemz.heliohost.org, everything is showing, which I would prefer NOT. While we recently enabled putting domain roots outside public_html, Good, how do I do that?

Hurray, I got a Tommy account! My username is feeldumb. I chose bluegemz as my main domain, the same as it was on Stevie. Now I am ready to restore my 4 websites that I had working on Stevie, and could not get working on Johnny. They are: teaseleather.tk cbeacctg.tk entiaacctg.tk honeywebph.tk When I tried to addon (I am told these need to be parked) entiaacctg.tk, I recieved this error message: (XID qvwqph) Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver. It showed URL: http://tommy.heliohost.org:2082/cpsess3488625906/frontend/paper_lantern/addon/doadddomain.html It did, however, add entiaacctg.tk as a directory in my public_html. But on Stevie, all 4 of these were NOT subdomains. When I originally created them, according to my notes, I made addon domains with the subdomain field blank, and the roots for this one was /home/feeldumb/entiaacctg/www. It does not show entiaacctg or anything, as an addon domain, it says "No addon domains are configured. " May I get the domains properly pointed to Tommy now, please? And may I be allowed to place their root directories as they were on Stevie, please? I look forward to your reply!
  6. How many people signed up on Tommy today in the less than 3 seconds it was open? What is the URL I need to have open in order to even attempt to signup on Tommy tomorrow (in 13 hours and 40 min)? Is : https://www.heliohost.org/signup/server/ the correct place to be waiting? Today, it said full right away, in less than 2 seconds. It is the only place I have found that actually shows Tommy as a choice. Or am I supposed to click something on http://bybyron.net/helio/sign-up.php?
  7. Well, I waited until midnight, watching very carefully at http://bybyron.net/helio/sign-up.php and all set on https://www.heliohost.org/signup/server/ but it did not even open for 1 minute, or even 5 seconds. Here is a quote from https://www.heliohost.org/signup/server/ Based on your selections I recommend you start on the Tommy server, but it is currently full. You will need to wait 23 hours and 60 minutes for signups to reopen. 23 hours and 60 minutes, so not even 1 minute open. So that was a bust. Hope I am doing this correctly.
  8. Oh, good. I was there at http://bybyron.net/helio/sign-up.php, and when it went to zero, selected Tommy. However, what happened was I was sent an email to verify, then given a questioner to fill out, and by the time (3 minutes) Tommy was full. OK, tomorrow, if I am available, I can hit my email to verify, and have https://www.heliohost.org/signup/server/ up and ready. Anyway, thank you. I see feeldumb.heliohost.org still shows up on the DIG (http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/dns-checker/). But feeldumb does not show at https://www.heliohost.org/status/?u=feeldumb. My email shows awaiting validation. Guess I am as ready as I can be. Thanks again! And I guess I need to wait until I actually have a Tommy account before I try and get it so my addon (parked) domains do NOT require my 4 websites to be subdomains (not need public_html/ as part of the website root). I saw someone got that for his account, but I also saw he was complaining that it was undone after a week (and apparently only Krydos can do that). Oh well. I also guess I need the Tommy account before I can tell Tommy I want to be user feeldumb. Ah well, I was once told by a wise woman "Good, fast, cheap, pick any two." So this is not going so fast, still it is good, and it is in my price range ($0.00). I admit it is mildly annoying to get my websites moved from Stevie to Johnny, but not actually have them there long enough to get them to work before Johnny went down, but I have high hopes that Tommy will be OK (assuming I can ever get my websites set up on Tommy). And you guys did hold up my 5 websites, and answered a bunch of dumb questions, and were really very helpful. Thanks again.
  9. OK, I need my feeldumb account removed, before I can even attempt to use my email address for a Tommy account in 1 hour. I think it is feeldumb on Johnny, but I suppose it could be Stevie.

I am sorry, I do not understand. I'd recommend submitting the email now and making sure you have the validation email ready to click at midnight. Submit what email, to where, and what validation email? I am completely clueless about where I go to even see if I can get a Tommy account. I tried doing https://www.heliohost.org/signup/ It told me my email was used to create an account, but http://feeldumb.heliohost.org/?3936 does not work. And now I do not know what server feeldumb goes to, but it is not Tommy, I bet. So I need to have my account removed from where-ever it is first, then try signup, and wonder what server I got, then get my account removed again, and wait, and try again? Is there any way for me to see what server feeldumb tries to go to now?

the Admins need to do it for you post your user name and any domains you used on server Johnny ### username, Stevie and Johnny, please remove so I can move to Tommy. feeldumb And my domains, that were on Johnny, so I can move them to Tommy. feeldumb.heliohost.org teaseleather.tk cbeacctg.tk entiaacctg.tk honeywebph.tk And can I get Krydos to remove the restriction that addon (parked?) domains must be in /home/feeldumb/public_html/ so that I can have my 4 websites in their own directories, as I had them on Stevie, which is my only backup from when my web sites worked? Thank you very much. see --> [ https://www.heliohost.org/signup/ ] ### So I wait until you tell me my feeldumb account has been removed, follow this link at midnight Greenwich time, and enter my email address that was associated with feeldumb, and pray it lets me get a Tommy account?

So can get an account to Tommy now (even though I am to poor to contribute)? How do I register? Do I need to remove feeldumb from Johnny first? Ah, I go to signup on Tommy, and when I put in my email, it tells me I am already on Johnny. So I guess I need to have my Johnny account removed first, then maybe I can get an account on Tommy. And after (or if) I get an account on Tommy, I need Krydos to allow me to NOT have 'public_html/' as part of my addon, so I can set up my 4 websites the same as they were on Stevie. Just as well, I never got any of my cgi perl scripts to work on Johnny. I am (was) user feeldumb on Stevie, then Johnny. Please can I try Tommy now? Please help.
  14. Is there a problem with Johnny? I cannot login and all my websites fail to ping.
  15. May I also have this restriction removed for the same reason? I am feeldumb on Johnny. Yes, it does seem that Krydos can change this, if he wishes. I have been trying to get this done for weeks now. It really would be a lot easier for me to recover my four websites, which I fortunately backed up, if I could set them up the way they were on Stevie. I refer to this post: http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/26744-johnny-subdomains/?hl=public_html Well, looks like Johnny is also down, so I cannot log in anyway.
  16. May I also have this restriction removed for the same reason? I am feeldumb on Johnny.
  17. May I also have this restriction removed for the same reason? I am feeldumb on Johnny.
  18. Well, now that Stevie is gone, and I am on Johnny, this does not work. I cannot remove the public_html/ part of my domain directory names.
  19. So I cannot have /home/feeldumb/honeywebph/www as the root directory for honeywebph.tk on Johnny, this is what you are telling me? Or use directory /home/feeldumb/honeywebph for files used by the website that are not accessable to browsers going to honeywebph.tk? I would like to refer you to our discussion when I first set this up. http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/15803-answered-i-have-a-heliohost-account-can-i-get-another-somethingheliohostorg-domain/?hl=feeldumb&do=findComment&comment=91938
  20. So I need to use addon, but cpanel version 60 does not allow me to create or edit an addon and not enter subdomain, or remove public_html from the root directory. On Stevie, years ago, I created addons without entering anything in the subdomain field, and could enter what I wanted as the root directory. So what can I do to get my websites to work the way they did on Stevie? According to the cpanel version 90 documentation: from : https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/60Docs/Addon+Domains When you create an addon domain in the cPanel interface, the system automatically creates a subdomain. To alter or delete the subdomain after you create it, you may alter or delete the information that the addon domain's website displays. Note: The system stores and displays the addon domain's traffic statistics as part of the subdomain's traffic statistics. However, it is not very specific about how, exactly, you can alter or delete the information that the addon domain's website displays.
  21. Alias does not allow me to specify root directory for URL.
  22. Well, on Stevie, honeywebph.tk showed /home/feeldumb/honeywebph/www/index.html, with /home/feeldumb/honeywebph/www as the root of that website, and I could put programs and other stuff in /home/feeldumb/honeywebph that people could not get to just using their browser. On Johnny, with cpanel version 60, I cannot seem to remove the public_html part of the filename, either with an alias, or an addon domain. I removed the addon domain, and created honeywebph.t as an alias, since that is what the documantation seemed to think was "parked". But that seems to point to /home/feeldumb/public_html and does not seem to allow me to edit that. So now what do I do? I do not want my 4 websites to be subdomains, because then all the files become part of "http://feeldumb.heliohost.org/". They were not that way on Stevie, but the cpanel version 60 does not let me make an addon domain without a subdomain. Well, I removed the alias, and put back the addon, The addon documentation "https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/60Docs/Addon+Domains" seems to say you can change the directory it goes to. To choose a document root other than the automatically populated value, manually enter the directory name in the Document Root text box. However, I cannot create an addon domain without something entered into the subdomain field (not true when I did this on Stevie, years ago), and it always adds "public_html" to my document root. Anyone know how I fix this? Before I add my other 3 websites back? Oh, I looked at that documentation you referenced ("http://wiki.helionet.org/Parked,_Addon_and_Sub_Domains") . I said: How can I create a Parked Domain? After logging into your personal cPanel, click on the 'Parked Domains' button I see no "Parked Domains" button on my cpanel. Where is it on yours?
  23. No, how do I do that? Do I need to do that? I have 4 url's that used to go to Stevie: teaseleather.tk cbeacctg.tk entiaacctg.tk honeywebph.tk I thought there was no change, since Stevie and Johnny use same. OK, I used cpanel to create an addon domain honeywebph.tk. Now I can ping honeywebph.tk. >ping honeywebph.tk Pinging honeywebph.tk [64.62.211.131] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 64.62.211.131: bytes=32 time=220ms TTL=54 Reply from 64.62.211.131: bytes=32 time=195ms TTL=54 Reply from 64.62.211.131: bytes=32 time=187ms TTL=54 Reply from 64.62.211.131: bytes=32 time=184ms TTL=54 Ping statistics for 64.62.211.131: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 184ms, Maximum = 220ms, Average = 196ms C:\Users\Honey\firefoxprofiles Thu 12/29/2016 2:02:25.19
