  1. Well, says I posted that yesterday, 11 minutes after noon. No replies yet, wonder if I am putting this question in the right place? And I wonder what time zone that was. It is 6:21 am here now. Also wonder if I will get an email notice of a reply (maybe that will work, even when I reply to myself - who knows, I don't, yet).
  2. Hi Notice my name? I got a heliohost account, so I got a URL, bluegemz.heliohost.org. I also have a free account over at awardspace, bluegemz.atwebpages.com. Over at awardspace, I used the dashboard to create a new subdomain, and I got: honeywebph.atwebpages.com. What I want to do is have honeywebph.heliohost.org. I created a subdomain, but I got honeywebph.bluegemz.heliohost.org. (which, by the way, my browser says does not exist - maybe it takes a while?). So I tried to create an addon domain honeywebph,heliohost.org that pointed there, which seemed to work, until I got an error saying something about beining unable to park a subdomain. I think there is something here I just do not understand (see my name here?) I read the wiki you have about domains. I am sorry, but it was not to clear. I think I understood what you said there, but I am not sure if I should even be trying to use that for what I want. I cannot create another account (one per user, you said, OK). Is there some way I can get another heliohost domain name? Hope I am putting this question in the correct place. Thank you! Have a nice day! I tried again to make an addon domain, this time I got: Error from domain wrapper: honeywebph.bluegemz.heliohost.org is owned by another user. Pretty sure that is NOT the error I got the first time. Sorry. Help, please.
  3. Hi! I went to that site: http://synchring.tk/index.htm using firefox, then I tried right-click and selected 'show page source'. Have you tried that yet? I wonder how you created and saved your source? Sorry, I am new here also, I haven't got a clue what to tell you about the DNS change. Good luck!
  4. If you believe that your account is incorrectly suspended: 1) Create a new topic named "Suspended: hh_username", replacing hh_username with your HelioHost username 2) In your post, include the following information: a. your HelioHost username feeldumb b. the server your account is on Stevie c. your HelioHost main domain http://bluegemz.heliohost.org I received an email from you as follows: Flag this message HelioHost Account Inactive Saturday, March 30, 2013 3:25 PM From: "no-reply@heliohost.org" <no-reply@heliohost.org>Add sender to Contacts To: jwells2054@yahoo.com Dear feeldumb, Your hosting account at HelioHost has been suspended for inactivity. In order to keep your account active you must log into your control panel at least once every 30 days. The last time you logged into your account was 2013-02-27. All visitors to your domain(s) will now see a suspended page instead of your original content. If you still wish to continue using your hosting account you can reactivate it by visiting this page http://www.heliohost...t/scripts/renew and providing your username in the box. To prevent your account from being suspended again for inactivity in the future, please remember to log into your account http://heliohost.org/ at least once every 30 days. If you have any problems with the reactivation process you can find support on our forums http://helionet.org/ Regards, HelioHost Staff My problem is that I have logged onto my cpanel at least daily for weeks now. Perhaps I am not doing something I should. My firefox has an open tab to: http://stevie.heliohost.org:2082/frontend/x3/index.html and when I connect my computer to the net, and start firefox, I usually get an 'Authentication required' box opening up asking for my Heliohost unername and password, which I enter. Even if I am not ready to mwork on my site that morning, I usually check the error logs in my cpanel and reload my site. I did that today, and every day for over a month. Does that not count as a login to my cpanel? By the way, the 'Error log' section does not always seem to show the errors from my site. It usually says it cannot find 'favicon.ico' which confuses me, since there is no reference to that name anywhere in my stuff. And I usually have to load my site several times in order to see my hit counter, which is YOUR count.cgi (by Muquit, version 2.5). Right now (6:37 AM PDT) the error log is not showing any errors, even though my site is showing errors. It does seem to be a crap shoot which of my SSI (for example '#include virtual="/cgi-bin/test.cgi"') will or will not either function of show "[an error occurred while processing this directive]". Since I am not changing anything, I do wonder why it sometimes works, and sometime doesn't. I wonder how I will know you have seen this? I quess I should check here from time to time. I hope I get an alert in my email (at: jwells2054@yahoo.com ) Sorry to bother you here about this, but I do not think I can reply to 'no-reply'. Oh yes, despite the occasional problem, I am very happy with you guys. Thank you very much for your help, sevice and support. Have a nice day! PS I suppose I should say that I did not seem to have any problem reactivating my site (other than the brief threat of heart failure - I really should back my stuff up). Thanks again!
  5. My as yet inactive domain: bluegemz.heliohost.org On server Stevie Well, so far I am impressed by a lot of the things I see here. Of course, I don't actually have a site yet. While waiting for my site to be activated, I thought I would follow the instructions to read the Terms of Service, which was very clear and well written. And I followed the links and read the four guides at: http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/4-the-official-rules-guide/ http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/2-the-official-spam-guide/ http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/3-the-official-enforcement-guide/ http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/1544-the-official-etiquette-guide/ But when I tried to read the Support FAQ the link given for it: http://www.cl58services.co.cc/heliohost/faq.html "Firefox can't find the server at www.cl58services.co.cc." And I cannot find where I can ask my no doubt dumb seeming questions. There does not seem to be anyone on the chat link (but maybe that is because it is the middle of the night there in the US). I thought maybe I could put this in the.feedback and comments section, but that takes me out of here to a google site which then asks for my google password. That does seem to be the only thing that is NOT included in the forum here. I had looked at your forum before I decided to try this service. I must admit, I was pleased to see there were recent posts. But what really impressed me was all the help you tried so hard to give the (sorry) moron who was unable to express himself well enough for you to even figure out what his question was. I have another site (my first) over at awardspace. They say that perl cgi scripts are supported there. However, none of the SSI statements I inserted into my .shtml index page worked. I tried to ask a question in their forum, to see if anyone could tell me what I was doing wrong. So far, over 900 people have looked at my post, but no one has replied at all. Some of the things I tried did work on my own laptop's apache server. There site does say there is a limit to the run time allowed for a script, I changed my script to this simple test.cgi: #!/usr/bin/perl print "Content-type: text/plain\n\nIt worked!\n"; But that does not work there either. All I really want is a simple hit counter for my simple site. But that is a different subject. Anyway, some of your user's have said (to me) that this site worked great for them, your forum is still active, your people do go to some trouble to help even people who cannot even answer simple questions or express themselves well, and your Terms and Conditions do not require a law degree to understand them. I have high hopes for my site here. I am a newbie. I was a computer programmer for 27 years, but I am clearly what Dilbert classifies as a dinosaur now. Please pray for me. Have a nice day!
  6. Well, that was a good read. I do think it is possible to consruct an ethical and moral structure without requiring a religious basis. I have to admit that I have not done so (yet). If one wishes to have a moral and ethical structure that would work for most of the worlds societies, one could start by considering the social requirements of the concept of property. That would make theft immoral. Then stealing someone's life would also be immoral, so that takes care of murder. Although the concept of stealing someone's life seems to have expanded quite a bit lately (with identity theft).
