  2. i believe the mayan calander ends on dec 21, 2012. i dont think the world is gonna end anytime soon, and you know what im gonna do? take the day off, sit in my front yard, drink some alcohal and watch it proved wrong. if it does end up being real, ill have front row seats to the end of the world. what more could you ask for? lol
  3. both are planet killers lol, both kill life just as certainly as the other. the only thing that would save life (possibly) is enough forwarning and human engenuity
  4. i understand most of it, i dont think ill ever fully understand it tho, incredibly complex for those to lazy to watch the video check the dumbed down version Click Here
  5. lol wow ok try to wrap your head around this... cause ive seen it a couple times and its still hard for me to wrap my head around it. heres a really dumbed down version... the video has animations and really good explanations. if you have the five or ten mins to spare i really recomend it. 0. The 0th dimension is the dot. You don't need any numbers to identify its position. 1. The first dimension is the line. You need two dots to define a line. 2. The second dimension is the plane. You need two numbers to identify a point on a plane. Usually called the x and the y axis. 3. Space is the third dimension. You need three numbers to determine the distance of an object in space. These are usually called the x,y and z axes. 4. Space time is the fourth dimension: it requires four numbers to place a dot in space-time. 3 for the spacial position, and one for the time. 5. The 5th dimension is the first dimension in which the notion of possible worlds starts needing to be used. Imagine some possible world a little different from this one. This possible world will give you a unit of similarity measurement with which to compare the distance of other possible worlds to the actual one. 6. The 6th dimension will give you a plane of possible worlds. The 6 dimensions allow us to compare and position all the possible worlds that start with the same initial conditions (the big bang) as this one. 7. The 7th dimension will give you access to the possible worlds that start with different initial conditions (big bang). A point in the 7th dimension consists of all the possible worlds that start with the same initial big bang and lead to all the possible endings that such an initial condition can lead to. 8. The 8th dimensions gives us again a plane of such complete possible universe histories, which in the video they call infinity. We can there compare two such infinities without necessarily having to take ours into account. 9. With the 9th dimension we can compare all the possible universes histories starting with all the different possible laws of physics and initial conditions. 10. The Tenth dimension is the point in which everything possible and imaginable is covered. Since we can't imagine any further, we have to stop here. edit: i nab'd this from this list from -> http://blogs.sun.com/bblfish/entry/the_10_...ions_of_reality
  6. just offering an interesting take and want others opinions this is in relation to my tenth dimension post btw if there was/is a 10th dimensional being would it not be what we consider God? Omnipresent, omnipotent, etc... just a thought that occured to me when i watched that video again edit: scroll down to post#4 for a quick list of the dimensions
  7. first i appologize, i said hardware acceleration layer HAL = hardware abstraction layer i did a google search and you are right about it being vague lol both quotes from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardware_abstraction_layer if your looking for the best way to take control of hardware putting some serious research into the HAL would definatly be worth it
  8. anyone else seen it? http://www.tenthdimension.com/medialinks.php really interesting and informative if youve never seen it first time i saw it was a year ago or something and one of my roomates thought there were only 4 dimension so i had to go looking for it again
  9. read my post on the first page and you'll understand lol
  10. lol i had a good laugh showed this to my coworkers who use vista... they had a good laugh, who cares if people say vista sux, if you like it thats all that should matter
  11. oh... haha, i feel kinda retarded now thanks for the heads up
  12. I just tryed buying the standard posting package and it gave me the error you need to be a member for 7 days message and took my 250 points anyway, that shouldnt have happened correct? time of attempted puchase was prox 3:59pm est
  13. ah! the magnetic field, thats what i was thinking of with the cores rotational speed!
  14. ill have to check it out when i get some free time, busy as heck right now, im sure ill get around to reading it eventually
  15. aight well i looked for some hardware level video memory manipulation but to no avail. if you wanted help with dx or opengl i can do that. have you tryed looking for stuff on using the HAL? thats where id start if i was doing what you are trying to. going through windows is sluggish, if you wanted the speeds that you get with dx and opengl you need to learn how to go directly through the hardware acceleration layer.
  16. the first one is an all right movie, the second one was fairly lame, never saw tokyo drift and a modded supra can take out a stock ferrari, especial if the ferrari driver is just some rich boy like the one in the movie
  17. on the plus side look at the shanangans it spawnd its a good debate topic regaurdless
  18. JcX: Didnt they make an anime based on 'The Romance of Three Kingdoms'? I could swear Ive watched something that was suposed to be based on it.
  19. a 95 saturn sc1 that i have dubed "The Purple POS" oh yeah... $500 cars for the win
  20. ouch hardware level, blah ok i wont be much of a help there then. sounds like you want to create a new api. keep me posted on how the project comes along. itll be an intense experiance but well worth it
  21. lol they are actually old, i remember reading these a number of years ago, but i found them trolling through a random message board or something. im sure if you just google search 'programming humor' it would pull it up as well, cheers
  22. lol thats a boat load of work... just go to newegg and find the highest priced equipment (for the most part those are the newest)
