edit x2: ok so the original post went something like this... i couldnt get file includes working in a strictly html site i tryed a bunch of different things to get it to work, including: <!--#include file="sidebar.html"--> <!--#include virtual="sidebar.html"--> <!--#include file="sidebar.shtml"--> <!--#include virtual="sidebar.shtml"--> <?php include("sidebar.php"); ?> <?php readfile("sidebar.php"); ?> <? include("sidebar.php"); ?> <? readfile("sidebar.php"); ?> solution: (kinda but not really) i was trying to do everything just straight up html/css, but i got fed up and switched the project to asp.net, which fixed the problem.

my current rig, which is 3 years old, has the nForce4 chipset on the mobo and a radeon x800 card. i bought the card cause it was in stock and a lil cheaper... which i regret, cause its given me problems with a few games, HL2 being one of them and Freelancer being another. so yeah id stick with the nVidia cards if i were you.

Determining the type of processor to buy
Sungazer replied to jjpriest25's topic in Technology and the Internet
ya find out what socket you have and go from there, the cool thing about the intel sockets is that some of them are actually the same and all you have to do is flash the bios to get it to work with the newer processors, but ya intel is the way to go at the moment -
I wanna see what you look at when you first turn on you pc, no macs allowed! lol j/k edit: also post what you are using to skin - mine: straight xp

Determining the type of processor to buy
Sungazer replied to jjpriest25's topic in Technology and the Internet
they have different sockets example the amd quad cores are using the am2+ socket the intel core 2 quads are using the LGA 775 socket i suggest doing a bit of research if your thinking of buying new hardware. also, i can tell you that while the amd have better archatecture intel smokes them performance wise. -
fundamentaly theres only a few things wrong with vista, the fact of the matter tho is that microsoft keeps breaking it, plus what it was supposed to be was this crazy new thing and all they did was load it down with a whole bunch of unnessicary crap that bogs down ram and the hdd. and if youre looking to beautify xp there are ways of doin it without having to resort to programs that eat your ram, aka window blinds, desktop x, etc... check out this pic of my DT... i thk im gonna bypass vista all together, seven is going to be vista with out all the memory issues and hopfully mostly debuged lol. there was so much i was looking forward to with vista and MS let me down completely the only plus to it is DX10 which not many games use yet, and by the time they do seven will be out

I just dug this out of an email my aunt sent me a long time ago... This guy should have been promoted, not fired. This is allegedly a true phone call from the WordPerfect Help Line which was transcribed from a recording monitoring the Customer Care Department. Needless to say the Help Desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currently suing the WordPerfect organization for "Termination without Cause." This is actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee. Now you know why they record these conversations! "Ridge Hall computer assistance; may I help you?" "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect." "What sort of trouble?" "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away." "Went away?" "They disappeared." "Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?" "Nothing." "Nothing?" "It's blank, it won't accept anything when I type." "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?" "How do I tell?" "Can you see the C: prompt on the screen?" "What's a sea-prompt?" "Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?" "There isn't any cursor: I told you, it won't accept anything I type." "Does your monitor have a power indicator?" "What's a monitor?" "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?" "I don't know." "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?" "Yes, I think so." "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall." "Yes, it is." "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?" "No." "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable." "Okay, here it is." "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer." "I can't reach." "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?" "No." "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?" "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle -- it's because it's dark." "Dark?" "Yes, the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window." "Well, turn on the office light then." "I can't." "No? Why not?" "Because there's a power failure." "A power... A power failure? Aha, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?" "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet." "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from." "Really? Is it that bad?" "Yes, it is." "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?" "Tell them you're too [bleeped!] stupid to own a computer."
