  1. Stevie has been down. The admins are working on the problem. This is the server your site is on.
  2. I am thinking about buying one of these for my "kids" for Christmas. I am a PC gaming guy and I really despise the Wii but my kids seem to like it. I think I would prefer the Xbox 360 Kinect but wanted to see what you guys think. Who already has one of these? What are your thoughts? I also dislike the idea of having to interact so much with my game, heh. It sounds good in theory but I am too old and lazy to let a game run me ragged. Wii fit?!
  3. Just by capturing this image with your mobile device (smart phone, ipad, tablet, etc.) you can be automatically taken to a website, view a written message, receive a text message. Some QRs create animations right there on your screen that enhance marketing. QRs can deliver an exponentially larger amount of data than conventional bar codes. http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ <<< Create your own QR code http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code
  4. How can there even be the concept of a "big bang" if there is no God? How can something with no divine origin (creation) evolve? Yes there is a God. DJBOB, I like you post. Thanks.
  5. Ah yeah. Not concerned right now. FUD, LMGTFY...will have to remember those. What the kids say these days... j/k I could have Googled it but that would not express my feelings about the use of an new (to me anyway) acronym. Thanks though. I've been schooled and therefore I am passing it on to my friends. lol
  6. Right now because of my rural location I am having to tether my Verizon cell phone to my computer for Internet access. 2mb will have to do for now.
  7. Well I would like to help as an admin if ever you need another. I don't claim to know it all but I have had some experience over the past 15 years. I have managed two tech support call centers. One was for an ISP where we supported thousands of dial-up customers, helping them setup their connection, email and browsers. We used proxy servers to filter inappropriate sites so we always had to help customers configure their proxy settings. I also setup virtual domains using IIS on our Windows box and Apache on our Linux box. That was about 10 years ago but since then I have been the Systems Admin for a large bank. I managed pretty much everything: PBX, Ts, switches, routers, Internet appliances, backups, disaster recovery, service contracts, workstations, cell phones, etc. Like I said I still don't know it all but I like to learn and help out. I also have my own side business doing networking and consulting for local businesses and doctors offices. I am CompTIA A+ certified, have an Associates in electronics and should have my Bachelors in IT by next April. I'm kinda old but I still love PC gaming from Unreal Tournament back in the day to COD MW2. http://www.linkedin.com/in/johnlcarlisle
  8. I have been editing the standard PHP files that WP says to edit in the links you sent. I am editing them outside of the WP admin console in Notepad and uploading them through WSftp. I have been able to change a few things but I want to reposition some images. I can change the image itself, change sidebar items, edit fonts, etc. but I do not see the main HTML that will let me change image position. So It must be as you say. That the HTML is determined by these PHP files (and CSS) and then overlaid to a new, dynamic file. It is this main file I was hoping to capture and edit but it does not seem possible. I am still researching though and will post here if I find different. Thanks. You misunderstand. Instead of using the WP dashboard to select some pre-configured options, you can customize the template and styles of the theme to suit your tastes. Those files are the ones you should edit with notepad. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I am editing the ones shown in the screenshot above. Those are the ones WP support says to edit but none have what I want to change.
  9. Maybe it's just this theme but it only gives me a very few options. For example, I cannot place images where I want. And the side bar has little or no options.
  10. Figured I shouldn't but I can. Appreciate the links. I read them earlier today. They did mention editing the PHP files in notepad which I already know how to do. Just have not found the right file. Thought maybe something was going on like with ASP creating HTML on the fly. I was able to remove some objects that were not available for editing in the Theme. In fact, the theme is pretty limiting. I may have to strip it to bare bones and start from there but still using the minimal template components.
  11. Yeah I guess there is a point in there and some truth aside from the unnecessary violence and conspiracy theory. I do agree with the use of smaller banks and credit unions. I use a local bank. Never have used a credit union but I think they are a good idea.
  12. Wow BH! Didn't you have like 2 posts three days ago? heh
  13. I am using notepad and WSftp to edit my WP theme. I am trouble finding the main page that needs to be updated. I have gone through every .php file I see. I figured it would be either index.php or page.php and both have some info that I was able to edit. But if I right click on the live page and view source I see a more comprehensive page with all coding. I do not know the name of this page file. It is not index.html of course. www.360DegreeNetworking Can someone tell me which is the main file to edit? Again, I have viewed every .php file here in notepad and some in other directories. Looking for someone who uses WP enough to know for sure right off the top of their head. Thanks - Xwinuser - Ex Windows user -X windows user
  14. @stgeorge I was thinking about moving from Johnny to Stevie but have decided to stay where I am at for now. What about you?
  15. I was in the middle of updating my site through the WordPress admin when I got a "database connection error". After that I could not connect to the ftp site with WSftp. Could not ping www.360degreenetworking.com. Cannot access cPanel. All other websites Facebook, Google, etc. are working. www.360degreenetworking.com username xwinuser server is Johnny if I am not mistaken Cleared cache and cookies Tried Firefox and IE This is happening the same time Brother Hassan is not able to connect. Please advise. From CMD C:\Users\John>ping www.360degreenetworking.com Pinging 360degreenetworking.com [64.62.211.131] with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. It seems to be intermittent now. It took me awhile to test, clear cache, check forums to see if anyone else is having a problem and then write the post. I wanted to make sure I gave it a chance and did not want to bother you guys for a non-issue. The site and ftp connected for a few minutes and then gave me a connection error again. just long enough for me to need to clear my cache and start over with checking everything on my end. Sorry I'm slow. Thanks for the help. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- According to this there was some offline time on Johnny around 4am PST which is 6am CST. I am in CST and that is the time I was having trouble. So I guess this is just an FYI because it seems to be working now. http://heliohost.grd...ive/?2011-11-19 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8:27 AM Still mostly down (per HelioHost DNS checker). I give up for now.
  16. I think there will have to be a compromise of some sorts. I "think" that Windows cannot lock out the other operating systems without getting sued again for being a monopoly. I am running the Windows 8 Dev Preview but of course I am not running it on a Windows 8 certified box. I had not heard of this issue but it is definitely real. I started doing a little research and there is plenty talk about it on the web. Mostly among Linux users of course. At this point, I am not concerned. Will have to wait and see what happens around March 2012. http://www.crn.com.au/News/274817,windows-8-wont-kill-linux-says-microsoft.aspx http://http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/09/windows-8-secure-boot-prevent-linux-installation/ http://geeknizer.com/how-windows-8-kill-linux-multiboot-os/
  17. Brother Hassan, are you on the Stevie or Johnny server? I have not been able to connect to cPanel or ftp for the last 20 minutes at least.
  18. I get your analogy Brother Hassan. I agree it is war in some instances. In my post I also spoke of those who get involved for one purpose only to be used to serve another purpose.
  19. Thank you Brother Hassan. I was not aware that so many had died. Is this from all the wars since the 1980's or just more recent wars? I was not really saying the verbiage in Qur'an told people to be violent, only that I think some may misinterpret it that may. Do you believe the Qur'an does say it is okay to be violent because of a country's foreign policies? Just curious.
  20. Thanks for you help. I have decided to stick with the server I am currently on. Keep up the good work.
  21. Can you share or point me to where you state some of your server specs? RAM,CPU,UPS, RAID 0,3,5, etc.? What virtual machine software do you use? Do you do load balancing? This has nothing to do with HelioHost performance. I'm just a specs geek. I did ask in the "feed back" section what you thought would help the servers be more stable but I am not asking for that reason here. May sound weird but true.
