Krydos Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Ok now the queued page returns my patience is running out. If you are not able to solve this i am thinking to move to another hosting account... It is now 1 week that my web wite does not work... Sorry sometimes it takes a little bit of time to resolve DNS issues no matter what hosting service you use. Even if you were paying a million dollars a month for your hosting it would still take up to 24 hours for DNS records to propagate because it is a worldwide system and this is how it works. It has only been two days since you first reported your problem and we have had multiple admins including the root system administrator who is currently ~800 miles from home working on your problem. I think a lot of progress has been made in a very short period, but you're welcome to your own opinions.
jje Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Ok now the queued page returnsThis time this is good news! Your account should only take a few more hours to become active!
Ashoat Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Krydos: More like 48 hours, if you're including folks on other continents and/or using slower connections. Panos80: You're not paying attention to the scripts you're running. "Please wait 48 hours for the change to take effect." is not a joke; it's serious. Your site isn't going to be up in 3 hours. If you have a problem, then leave. This is a free hosting site; you're a user, not a customer.
Panos80 Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Yes this a free hosting site but what can I do when I can not have even the basics..And to make my self clear let me explain what i mean: 1) Is very problematic......Problems, probles problems......has many problems ... every hour and display a new problem...so far I've seen 10 error messages and still continue 2) The server is down 23 hours the day...I will be very lucky if I see even one hour a day my site open...And this is very serious....The most hours of day simple i cant connect..I am very lucky when my site apeears correctly....Even in your forums most of the day I can not connect 3) Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow ...........i upload a picture and i went to make a coffee and still uploads....... and this not only in my site but also in all other sites in your "servers" If you are unable to provide the basic services then does not make sense to have this service host....I propose to close your company and not to fool the other users.............Just look at some comments that say about your other sites .. you are simple tragic I prefer to pay than not work at all.. I am very very dissapointed from you.. BYE BYE HELIOHOST.. Hope NOT tou see you again I had a very bad experience with you
cl58 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 First of all, the servers are not down 23 hours a day. That is a gross exaggeration. And as djbob said, "This is a free hosting site; you're a user, not a customer." If you want to leave, then leave. We're fine with or without you.
jje Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I just want to make a few things clear. I believe we have mentioned this to you many times before, you're just not paying attention. 1) You are a free user, not a paid customer, therefore you have no right to complain since you are not paying anything and djbob has spent lots of money in making HelioHost a success. You are lucky that this service actually exists, because djbob doesn't have to offer free hosting and spend months to create and setup the free hosting. djbob pays a few hundred dollars every year to keep this service alive, yet he hasn't asked for anything in return. 2) HelioHost is a free host, and one of the best free hosting services on the internet. You can expect this kind of service from free hosts, and I seriously doubt you will find any free hosts that even compare to HelioHost. According to the Free Hosting website, HelioHost is the best free host with top marks (125/125), so you will not find a better free host. 3) We have constantly told you to do the same thing, which isn't hard: Wait 48 hours. I'm not sure how many more times I can say it. Wait 24 hours. Domains on every site take 24 hours to be setup, and the script needs an extra 24 hours since it has to juggle 16,000 accounts constantly and it can take a few hours to get to yours. Just be patient; it isn't that hard. 4) As cl58 said, you are exaggerating when you say that by a massive significant scale. Actually HelioHost is online for approximately 23 hours per day, calculated using percentages and general uptime. I know in my above post I may have come across a bit rude, and I apologise for that, but I don't think you realize that you are not the only user on HelioHost, and I didn't think you realized the effort djbob is making with this organization, and that you are using a free host and have to be patient. Thank you.
cl58 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I just want to add one more thing: If you expect or want paid-quality hosting, the only way to get that is to pay. This is free.
Krydos Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 1) Is very problematic......Problems, probles problems......has many problems ... every hour and display a new problem...so far I've seen 10 error messages and still continue 2) The server is down 23 hours the day...I will be very lucky if I see even one hour a day my site open...And this is very serious....The most hours of day simple i cant connect..I am very lucky when my site apeears correctly....Even in your forums most of the day I can not connect 3) Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow ...........i upload a picture and i went to make a coffee and still uploads....... and this not only in my site but also in all other sites in your "servers" If you are unable to provide the basic services then does not make sense to have this service host....I propose to close your company and not to fool the other users.............Just look at some comments that say about your other sites .. you are simple tragic ... Hope NOT tou see you again I had a very bad experience with you I'm really wondering if maybe her internet connection is to blame for all of the above. I've had my uptime stats going on my website for ~10 months now, and it averages out to about 97% uptime. Sometimes it gets rough for a few days or something, but then things get straightened out and it starts working well again. Johnny has been a huge help to because so much load from stevie has been removed. I have no idea on her actual situation, but years ago before I was an adult I lived with my dad in a very old house and it reminds me of everything she has said. We only had dial up internet, and the phone lines were terrible quality. Each time it would rain water would get down inside the wires and cause them to short out and of course the internet would die. Then we'd call the phone company and they would come out and replace all the exterior lines and everything would work fine until some damn squirrel would decide to sharpen his teeth on our phone cables again a few months later. So, in conclusion: Don't blame the heliohost; blame the squirrels.

Krydos Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 jje: Minor correction, at this point, HelioHost is self-sustaining That's awesome! Sometimes I worry...
jje Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Sometimes I worry... This post really freaked me out while I was searching the forums.
cl58 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I saw that post one time looking through the news forums. I didn't catch on until someone said "April Fools".
