Johnny started having some more issues with hard drive corruption so we shut him down to run some file system repairs. You won't be able to login to your Johnny account and all of your websites on Johnny will be offline until that finishes. Users on Tommy are not affected by this downtime.

Does the drive controller provide SMART statistics? With multiple instances of corruption, I'd generally start to suspect a failing drive.

Is it possible to change from Johnny to Tommy in the meantime? Or to get a second account (paid, of course) with Tommy? I don’t want to break the rules with more than one account, so just want to ask how to go about this, if it’s possible :)

Disk was indeed bad. We had a tech at our datacenter visually check the server and one of the two disks in the array that supports Johnny's user data volume had a failure light on. That has been replaced and I believe the RAID is cloning from the remaining disk at the moment (the datastore that failed was a mirror/RAID1).

Well, I hope that goes smoothly. I've seen a RAID array fail during a rebuild due to stress on the "good" (but aging) drive, but that's supposed to be fairly uncommon.

Yeah, that's fine. Once Johnny is back online you can get whatever you need from it and we can delete it. Your existing Johnny domain can be moved to Tommy prior to Johnny coming back online. You'll need to use a different email address to create your Tommy account, but after your Johnny account is deleted you can change the Tommy account's email address if you want to. So that means Johnny has crashed just like Tommy did in August 2019?

I don't think the 2019 Tommy had RAID, so the disk dying just killed the server. Johnny's data was on a RAID1 volume (a mirror), but we're still trying to get the new disk to rebuild now that it's been replaced.

If it ultimately refuses to rebuild and/or the second disk in the mirror dies, it's functionally the same as all of the other disk crashes we've had...

Not at this time. We're working to see if we can recover the raid array that failed to rebuild...

We have not been able to recover the data so far, and there is a non-zero chance it is not recoverable at all. Tommy is available immediately if you're interested, but it would be an empty account.

As a reminder for others reading, HelioHost specifically disclaims liability for data loss in the event of malfunction (e.g. disk failure), misuse (e.g. deploying buggy code that deletes your data, selecting the wrong option in Plesk, etc.), or abuse (both internal, such as being banned without backups due to illegal activity, and external, such as a cyberattack) in the disclaimer section attached to our terms of service. While we do make backups and/or recover data when possible, such is "best effort" and users are ultimately responsible for the creation and maintenance of backups.

Im trying to pay for a Tommy account but paypal is throwing an error "To comply with international regulations, this transaction has been declined."

Is there an alternative payment method? Thanks

If cryptocurrency is legal in your country you could use any of the wallets listed at https://heliohost.org/donate/ Make sure you donate at least $1 USD after fees. If you make a donation with crypto make a new post with this link https://helionet.org/index/forum/45-customer-service/?do=add and tell us the cryptocurrency used, the amount sent, and the time of the transaction. Most of the cryptocurrencies listed take 1-2 hours to verify, but Monero (XMR) and Aeon could take 24+ hours so they're not recommended. If you have another cryptocurrency that you would like to donate that isn't listed we may be able to create a wallet for you. Just let us know.

Will Tommy be free for non Tommy users or Johnny users that have been affected by this outage? If yes, then will a link be provided to join Tommy?
