Krydos Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 For the last 15 months we have allowed all of our accounts to remain active without logging in. Now that we have a functional control panel and it's possible to login again we need to enable inactivity suspensions again. Starting on October 13th if you haven't logged in for 28 days you will receive an email reminder to login. If you ignore that email for 2 days your website will be taken offline at 30 days and replaced with an inactivity message. We need to have this policy because our server's speed and uptime will be negatively affected if there are too many accounts on the server. Even if your account is small and you barely get any traffic just having the virtualhosts enabled on the server increases the load and causes Apache restarts to take longer. We will be adding a new server named Morty eventually that won't have high load suspensions or inactivity suspensions, so if you don't like having to remember to login that may be a good option for you in the future. 1

Krydos Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 We've had a few questions about our inactivity policy. VPS accounts are not affected by inactivity at all. As long as your VPS is paid for you don't ever have to login. Also accounts that are on cPanel still aren't affected, and they will remain active until after they are transferred to Plesk. This inactivity only affects users who have created new accounts on Plesk or have been transferred to Plesk already. 1
badrihippo Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Another clarification: do I have to log into the HelioHost control panel (https://heliohost.org/login as @balloons mentioned above), or Plesk directly (eg. https://tommy2.heliohost.org)? Or do both options work?
hunter93 Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Once the inactivity things is enabled again, will the account renewal page at https://heliohost.org/renew work again?

This is what the page says when you visit it: "Due to the transition to Plesk we are not currently suspending accounts for inactivity. We will make a news post once we start monitoring activity, and this page will be available to renew your account if needed." I would say it's safe to assume, yes it will be.

Just to be sure, I confirmed this implication on Discord. https://discord.com/channels/398197622168616962/398538798994161664/1028106362821034034 Krydos says "Both update your last login date". This was not working with cPanel. Great update! 1

I received on 2022-09-14 a mail which said I did not log-in since 2021-06-26 although I logged-in at least two times a week with https://tommy2.heliohost.org during the last months, including a few days before 2022-09-14. I eventually received a renew mail after my account was suspended on 2022-09-16. Renew was successful after log-in with https://heliohost.org/renew. Best regards.
juris Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 I log in every week, but I do it on https://tommy2.heliohost.org/login_up.php instead of https://heliohost.org/login/ but my account was deactivated last night. I put it back online this morning.
Krydos Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 Sorry about that. Obviously inactivity monitoring for Plesk is really new so we appreciate the feedback on whether it's working or not. I took a look at the logs for your usernames, and I think it's counting your logins now. 1
Krydos Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 With the changes I just made to the inactivity monitoring system it looks like 4 other people were suspended erroneously so I renewed their accounts for them. 1

Krydos Posted October 22, 2022 Author Posted October 22, 2022 6 hours ago, garrigue said: Why Morty's policy will be different? Mainly because Morty will have zero free accounts. The price to have an account on Morty will scale from 3.3 cents per day to 45.7 cents per day depending on the load that your account causes. As long as your account is paid for you won't be suspended for high load or suspended for inactivity.
