nexeu Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Hi guys, It I had been getting this internal serval 500 sometimes (on and off) at my newly installed wordpress site. My site is very new so I haven't done any coding at all just to check the server stability, and I had been observing internal server error 500 from time to time. It has been that way for a few weeks now. I only hosted on domain there. my domain is : hsupyaenaung.com under tommy server. I use Google Chrome with Mac Os. My time zone is GMT +6:30 (Asia). Please let me know what could be the issue. Quote
wolstech Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Rule number 1 of using WordPress: Don't use WordPress. Seriously, our users have more problems with WP than any other CMS available today, and it's because WP is just garbage software internally. It's terribly bloated, very badly written, and also extremely insecure (especially with plugins). WP is the number one cause of accounts getting hacked, getting suspended for load, and even accidentally getting banned for phishing (usually a hacker breaks in and sets up a phishing site). As for your 500 errors, odds are it's either permissions (verify your permissions are all 644 on the files), or excessive plugins (WP is timing out due to extensions not finishing quickly enough). WordFence and WooCommerce are two of the worst offenders for plugins, though any extension can cause poor performance if you have enough of them. Quote
nexeu Posted April 3, 2020 Author Posted April 3, 2020 Hey wolstech, Thanks for the tip. I understand WordPress maybe hackable depending on how you use/abuse it. I'm not much of a coder but I can tell it has something to do with the server/cpanel as the problem still persist after changing all the permissions of files to 644 and folders to 755. It started to show this error when the browser took too long saying, 'waiting for mydomain.com...'. It's gone when you refresh browser. And, like I said, I just installed a basic CMS site to check if it is stable. It's nothing there so it is very light enough to load quickly. Aside from that, may I know which CMS you would recommend over WordPress? - Cheers Quote
Luigi123 Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 We recommend that you choose joomla as a software. We had a lot of users success on installing that and there’s no issues at all. Quote
Flaze Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 there’s no issues at all.I wouldn't go that far... Quote
wolstech Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 there’s no issues at all.I wouldn't go that far...The only major issue with Joomla here is that it will not update. It runs fine but the updater will fail and hose the install if you try it. Quote
nexeu Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) Ok guys, I got this better by changing Php Memory Limit as follows : `define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M');` And - Wordpress also has similar issue with updating too. When you click update, it hangs at `updating...`. It happens all the time. But, the update has already completed when you refresh it. I had been observing that issue as well. Usually with other hosting, it notify update success message when it is done. Edited April 19, 2020 by nexeu Quote
nexeu Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 Update - I also ran into 500 a few times when I try to import .sql file with phpMyAdmin. This clearly show it doesn't have to do with CMS but the server config. 1 Quote
Luigi123 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Since the server started to work again, marking this solved. Keep in mind that it still recommend it to install Joomla since Wordpress is not a good. Quote
byeyoubp Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 This is not about joomla or wordpress, my web on Joomla is get internal server error too in tommy, and I use two CMS joomla and WP for almost five months on tommy server with no problem at all, untill this april, tommy server became not stable than ricky Quote
Seekier Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 untill this april, tommy server became not stable than rickyThat is absolutely correct. If you check here http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/ you will see that Tommy is not having joyous times at all. Though I don't use WordPress or Joomla but I too experience server timeout a times. He had already suspended, he came to the forum to requested his account to be unsuspended and we told him to remove everything what he has installed onto Tommy server and explaining to him about what happened and he agrees not to do it again anymore. So right now, Tommy's load is really slow and we don't know who else made the server cause becoming slow but we definitely going to find out. Sorry for the inconvenience that may this caused. Quote
