Evolution really exists in the world and it's happening now! I agree with the comments made stating that the world is being played by constant stimulation, propaganda and distractions. In malaysia itself, the whole history of Malaysia and culture of it is experiencing an evolution but no one knows whether its for a good or bad.

i have a simple question on it......

this was asked by my mechanics teacher...

if we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?.....??????

evolution is only "directed" in that it favors survival, it does not favor high intelligence or walking upright or use of tools, unless those features aid in the survival and passing on of genes to the next generation. Other animals, for instance mosquitos, don't seem to be suffering for lack of these human-like capabilities.

I'd like to think that evolution exists. There's a good fat amount of evidence towards it (nothing that can come close to proving it beyond a doubt) but I can't think of a better theory as of yet.

I might start leaning towards the Flying Spaghetti Monster though. (Goodwill toward man and all his supposed ancestors. RAmen.)

evolution is true... everythings evolve.. and it doesn't mean i don't believe in god.. i believe god created the universe and applying a certain rules to it and voila.. everythings are in order, the only thing we are trying to catch up with is what the rules are eg, we knows from last time , everythings are made from atom now we know that everythings are made from particle , but we need to prove it, thus we are finding the higgs-boson particle which they claimed to be the source ingredient prior to big bang (creation of this universe).. i even believe GOD actually got another GOD up him

Evolution is a fact.

You can observe Speciation even in complex creatures like salamanders in California. Now paleo-evolutionary trace backs are an other thing, but I do believe they are still valid.

The only thing that keep the Theory of Evolution a Theory is people's religious sensitivity and that sensitivity actually makes god smaller.

There has been a trend that perhaps started out innocently enough after the Great Reformation, to make God more accessible, which is counter intuitive and detractive since it makes God less than God and much more human. Assuming you or anyone can know the mind of God or can ascribe literal meaning or intentions to God or that they can help God just takes away from God. I mean if you are sure that X is X and Y is Y and that perhaps you as flawed human being could have made a error in comprehension somewhere along the way you might as well start calling God, Larry and threaten to un-friend him/her/it off your facebook page if they don't show up next Sunday with some Angels and Fireworks.

Evolution is observable it is something, and it does not need to conflict with anyone's religious belief if they actually believe in God, if they believe in a dumbed down and water down version of God that need to be understand then not even God can help them, but hopefully Evolution will eventually help the rest of us (it just takes a really long time - so be patient.)

Evolution is scientific FACT.
Well, its more a scientific theory, which gives this thread its purpose. But that being said ...

Those who deny this may as well also claim our world is the center of the universe and the earth is flat!
I completely agree with this.

I could only be bothered replying to this because my website has been queued all day :(

Interesting to read all the atheistic zealots decrying the religious zealots! I believe in natural selection but not in molecules to man evolution - there is no evidence to support it. All natural selection does is specialise based on particular traits that increase fitness in a particular habitat or set of circumstances - they don't create new features, only lose them. BTW, I am a scientist (1st class honours BSc), and there are many other scientists around the world who do not believe in evolution.

Think about it - the study of evolution provides no advances in medicine or technology: all the advances in medicine and technology come from repeatable observational science - the study of the theory of evolution is so atheists can satisfy to themselves that there is no God

One funny thing I still haven't figure out is the begining of the human and its universal evolution. I mean, where did the big bang come from? If the energy in the whole universe just exploded from a small body with an intensive mass, then where from that small body? (quantum physics).

Now, it is said that life began from an "organic soup" with some genetic combinations which has an infinite probability. In this case, the mathematics does not make sense to me at all.

The theory of evolution is not challenged since most of its evidences are said to be "extinct". I am not sure if any one of us here have ever seen a live ape before. The only way to test the ape-man evolution is to have an ape family and study them for some thousand years. (in which case nobody will have the time to do that)

So my point is, no matter the case, the human make up and that of its surroundings are too marvelous to be attributed to some kind of evolutionary chance. Even if there is a slight chance that the theory of evolution could be true, looking from its begining, there should be a supernatural being to trigger the whole incidence.

Evolution is scientific FACT.

Sorry if I'm being a little religious here, but the same Bible which denies evolution quoted some hundreds of years ago that the earth is round. so it doesn't necessary mean that those who disagree with evolution disagree with all scientific findings

Personally, I do believe in evolution; I don't think it's possible nowadays not to since the discovery of the genome code and the explosion of research into forensics, DNA and neuroscience. I also find absolutist religion difficult to reconcile as fact rather than metaphor, since the parables and myths of different cultures share so many parallels:

  • Eve damning humanity by eating the "forbidden fruit" / Persephone condemning the earth to barren winter by consuming pomegranate seeds in Hades
  • The fruit of divine knowledge (which was not even originally mentioned as being an apple) / ambrosia, the sweet nectar of the Olympian gods
  • Easter, the Christian commemoration of Christ rising from the tomb to bring light to the world / Oestre, the pagan goddess of fertility who "rose" from the earth to bring light to the world (it is from "Oestre" that we get the word Easter and also estrogen, the hormone of female fertility)
  • Samson, the Old Testament strongman / Hercules, the Greek mythical strongman

Etc.

Good sources for reading on this are the works of Joseph Campbell and Christopher Vogler, who in turn took their philosophy from Carl Jung, the father of archetypal psychology (and himself a former student of Freud). Vogler took much of what Campbell wrote and consolidated it into a manual on screenwriting that George Lucas used to construct the mythical gospel of... Skywalker (the prodigal scion) vs. Vader (the despotic father figure). Another branch of this ideology is that of the controversial psychologist Bruno Bettleheim who wrote about using children's fairy tales as a non-threatening therapeutic approach accessible and understandable by the younger set.

But scientific theories aside, one could reasonably speculate that in 20 years (probably less), searching Google Earth to find "intelligent life"

...might ring up a 404.

I do back up that evolution is a theory and has not been proven wrong yet but as to "GOD" I am not saying I believe in him but I am also not saying that I don't believe in him. "GOD" is hard to explain, so that's all I'm saying.
