I do not believe in the bible, nor any religion in particular.

As stated before, I do not see nor hear a god. I have no proof that such a thing really happened; the birth of Christ and all that ( Yes, I was "brought up" as a Christian ). For all I know, the Holy Bible as we know it could simply be some Hebrew's fairy tale.

If I was certain that a God existed, this "higher power"? Only then would I bow down to it.

I'm not particularly fond of these sorts of topics because there is never a conclusion but I feel the need to state my position anyways. XP

I'm atheist, but I'm also very open. I support other religions just because I believe it's a wonderful thing to have faith despite what others think. I cannot give reasons why there isn't a god or gods. But neither can any of you provide evidence that there is. Now let this eternal discussion continue~

Well, personally I am an athiest. IMHO god makes about as much sense as zeus. I think there are many people who believe in god and the afterlife mainly because of the fear of death and nothingness. I believe that when you die, its just like before you were born. You feel absolutely nothing.

No. There's not a god. It's stupid to believe in one, in this day and age.

ok, I don't feel like being in a debate right now(partly because I'm unprepared and I'd probably be proven wrong a hundred times over without a comeback)

Here is my favorite theory(it may sound familiar to some):

Ok, consider this, A watch doesn't appear just out nowhere, it had to be made by a watchmaker.

Same goes for a house, tv, internet, and all that good stuff.

So I believe that man must have a creator for the same reasons.

That's false. In your scenario, you don't say where the watchmaker came from. If everything has to be made by something else, where did your watchmaker come from?

Why are you such a prick, the big bang is the most dumbest thing in the world. Come on seriously, even if there was a big bang what made the big bang happen. Heres my theory

God said it and a BANG it happen!!

I'm you have the right to believe what you want, but when God(Jesus) does come back for the 2nd coming, you will regret, and if your living like there is no God you better be right. I'm not a religious person, but I do pray to gods, and ask for help and thank him for where I am to day even as a 13 year old.

Saying that God must exist because we don't know what made the big bang happen is a stupid thing to say. There will be no second coming, atheists are right, and you do realise you're violating part of your religion, right? You said you pray to gods. Plural. The Christian god is a jealous god, apparently. You're only meant to worship one god, and that god is him. ;)

Absolutely, he gets upset if you are on the computer more than you pray to him. You then (in his eyes) worship the computer rather than him. I respect those who have faith in a god, and leave it at that, but many where I live take it to the extreme. The churches donate money to "charities" (which they own), then take gratuity charges free of tax. Christianity is a big scam. I hate that religion for that reason, though I support many other religions, and those who are open minded.

Thing about it logically then.. :]

EVERY faith believes in a god or various gods...

The fact that if you want to go through science and all the lar de dar..

scientists say it was an explosion between two particles... who put them particles there? they can't of just came there...

and why not give a chance of..

Is it better to believe theres a God and find out your wrong? or better to ignore God and mock God.. then find out God does actually exsist and then try to make it up to God?

hmm just some of my thaughts! :)

Personally... I'm half way through. Logic tells me that the existence of a God and it's implications (mainly afterlife) are definitely scientifically un-sound. On the other hand, I find much relief believing that a God does exist, and I'd rather live my life that way. Kind of like "ignorance is bliss".

The only thing to consider is this:

The Bible isn't exactly helpful to proving that God exists or not. It is but a book made by man who has most certainly been tampered with through all history.

Just because you can disprove the Bible and it's claims (Which I feel urged to say that the Bible is just a collection of anecdotes that resume in "love", not a science textbook) doesn't mean you disproved God. It's sole existence is paradoxical, there is absolutely no way to either prove or disprove the existence of God, which is where the concept of faith kicks in

You can never know for sure, but I don't think there is such thing as a God or gods. People who say God exists because the Bible says so, make use of a fallacy, because it's supposed to 'promote' God and its content comes from God.

My guess is that the only reason why people believe in holy powers is that people don't understand everything and try to find an easy answer for it, just like what the ancient civilisations did. The Greek didn't understand how thunder comes into existance, so they 'made up' Zeus, the god of thunder for it.

Eventually people become a bit wiser and see that those gods don't exist and look for something else, which they find in one God, a fatherlike figure. Of course, now a lot of people don't believe in God... Or at least they don't say they believe in God, but rather in 'Intelligent Design', which is the idea that a certain being (in other words: a god) designed everything. Surely, the evolution theory doesn't tell me everything... The evolution of the eye for example... You can't just 'add' one part of an eye; an eye doesn't work [correctly] until everything is there. But I'm sure science will find an answer to that...

And the idea of a 'punishment' in the 'after life' if you did not believe in God or didn't live in a good way... Where did that come from? As far as I know, it isn't really named anywhere... The hell is something the church created in the Middle Ages, the time when they controlled everything.

You all need to stop confusing science and religion. There is no logic in religion; therefore, your arguments are all useless. Religion is blind faith - you cannot "logically" prove or disprove the existence of God by definition. Get your theology straight.

Yeah, faith is a subjective thing. Personally, as long as you don't try to push your faith on to others that don't want to hear it, I'm cool with whatever you worship.

If your choice is blind faith, then that is totally ok. I support that, I just hate when people feel that christianity is some sort of "proven" thing, and that the bible is completely flawless. ;)

On the other side, they hate it when people feel that theories are some sort of proven thing, and that scientists are completely flawless. ;)

You have two people defending what they believe and none can prove the other wrong. THAT, my friends, is what I call stupidity.

Morons.
