No I meant that if you were standing on Everest, the farther away from the earth you go, the less you weigh. What I wonder is that if you were exactly in the center of the earth, even though it would never happen, which direction gravity would pull you?

Yes, I agree that it has come to a point where djbob should look into having the forum server on one of his friends' servers. Even though I don't think the forum is doing that much on the server, I think it would lessen the problem if something happens. ~Derek

If you could imagine the earth among the rest of the universe, you wouldn't believe how insignificant we are. Now if you "zoom" in to our solar system, you can fit (11?) Earths in Jupiter's diameter. Now if you "zoom" in more to the Earth, the farther away from the earth you go, the less you would way. Eventually, you would have escaped Earths gravitational field completely, and you would weigh nothing.

Yesterday, while waiting for my free account to be validated, I tried to go on these forums on my House computer. I got the "You do not have access to <insert page here>" error. But I could go on HelioHost. Today, I experienced downtime on my domain (scaperunerev.info) and the forums with the same Forbidden error. Anyone know about this? Is it because of my ISP or was the site actually down?

One last question--Do you know the Database host? Is it stevie.heliohost.org or something?

Thanks, I can't believe I missed that. It was the first place I checked! But I also have another question. I have a forum on my webpage thats based on PunBB. I renamed my database so HelioHost can use it. But I would have to re-setup my forum to use the database. Do you think, in your opinion, that if I re-setup the forum and tell it to use my database, that it will use the stuff in the database and not overwrite it?

On my old web hosting service I spent a long time to make my database. Once I decided to switch services I downloaded the database. I've renamed the database to have the "username_" prefix using TextEdit, but I have no idea how to upload the .sql file into my database. Please help, I really don't want to remake the database Thanks, ~Derek

Wow DomainNames.Be is a joke. This is what I found in their FAQ: How do I change the nameservers for my domain ? After you login, select your domain name from the list. Next click on the In case you haven't noticed, that sentence doesn't make sense at all Since theres not much that I can do as I do not own a domain with DomainNames.Be, you should bring their attention to the forgotten FAQ entry on how to change NameServers. You should also ask them how to change your nameservers since the FAQ doesn't help at all ~Derek

Okay, most of the world has heard of the 2008 US Presidential Election. As you all know, Barak Obama won the election. Some people didn't want him to win. Some people didn't want him to run! If I was old enough to vote (5 more years...) I would have voted for Barack Obama. He had great ideas on Health Care and Income Taxes. You know, history was made. The very first African American president! Some people only voted for him because he was African American. And thats not what it is about. Many people voted for him because they didn't want to vote for John McCain. They felt that he would be horrible--A second George Bush... Discussing the election, my literacy teacher said: "I've never been able to say to an African American student and say, 'You know, you could be president one day'. And maybe they would have replied, 'Just like the other African American president'. Maybe some of the racial discrimination will be abandoned now that we have Obama as president. Everyone has their opinions! Please share them here. And even if you don't live in the US, the president affects the world when it comes to a big enough country like the US.

Also, the Chinese have created their own special calender, and it just abruptly stopped at 2012. And I think theres no way that the world-ending-at-2012 theory would have spread across the entire known world and given the Chinese an idea. Even though theres much ideas pointing towards it, I think that there is only 50% chance it will happen from now to 2015. Just my opinion, of course...

This topic might be dead, but I will try to help anyway. I don't know the exact definition of a NameServer, but it kind of lets a webhosting service (Helio Host) broadcast information to your domain. There is no other way for the documents you upload or create on Helio Host to be shown on your domain show without changing your nameservers. Which registrar (mentioned above, means the company that sold you your Domain) did you see to buy your domain? For my domain I chose "GoDaddy" For GoDaddy (this might not be the same for you) you follow this path to change your nameservers. 1. Login 2. On the site menu, I click on "Domain Manager" 3. After selecting which domain I would like to edit, I click "NameServers" 4. I erase the two namesevers that were there by default, and enter the ones that belong to Helio Host (shown here.) 5. Log Out Your welcome, hope this helps whoever is looking at this! ~Derek

Yeah some people complain about Windows, but I don't like it that much. Mostly because: Java Applets + Windows (Intel PC) = Working o.O Java Applets + Mac G3 (PPC PC) = Super slow speeds

Mac OS X ftw. I just hate it when I look for programs because they always require a higher OS than I have "Mac OS X 10.3.9"

I've been seeing some threads that ask for their domain to be moved to your new server, Stevie. Why is this? Does the old server not work well? Or are they just moving to it because they feel like it?
