  1. Ok thanks. I totally get the part about not asking in respects to someone trying to be pushy or a know it all. That's not me (the know it all part at least, heh). I don't want to be a pest. Later!

No, that's fine. I'm sure one of the admins will be able to use their real name. Just to let you know, you really are being helpful on these forums. If you hadn't explicitly asked to be a moderator, then you probably would have been named one soon. Just keep up the good work, and I'm willing to bet you might be named a moderator sometime in the future.

  2. Use my name! PM me.

I was thinking that we could have a cPanel technician fix all of this stuff at once. However, I am not willing to submit my real name to cPanel, which is required to open a ticket.

    Summary of the "stuff":

    - CP wrap error when adding/removing domains

    - Unable to create accounts on Stevie

    - Cannot change this account's domain via WHM (or the mod CP, since it uses the WHM API)

  3. @opportunity

You can read on the home page about the issues they have here and that everyone is up front about them. You can read all the posts in the forum of issues that have been corrected and some that may not have been but everything is out in the open. Nothing hidden.

Hate that you lost your databases. Hopefully you backed up the information locally as anyone who has been online for years would do.

  4. Been trying to help out in the forum. I think I have actually helped a couple of folks. I'm still learning about HelioHost. Would it be possible to give me some read-only access to see what is going on with accounts as far as suspensions and such? I already use the DIG and HelioHost Server Monitor. Are there other sites or logins you guys wouldn't mind me using?

Of course I also already use the non Helio stuffs like Ping, NSLOOKUP, Whois, etc.

    Thanks!

My advice, if you wish to be a moderator/administrator, is just to read the forum and find questions that haven't been answered yet and if you know how to help them or you suspect you know what the problem is just post and help out. Obviously, you won't have access to all the tools that we do to begin with, but that doesn't mean you can't use the publicly available tools such as whois, dig and stuff like that to help solve issues.

Also, a large number of posts are regarding someone thinking their site is broken because they haven't cleared their browser cache too. Anything like that that you can answer and help with will reduce the amount of work that the admins/moderators have to do and we can spend more time with our more specialized access and tools to solve the problems that aren't as simple. If you prove that you are active for an extended amount of time, possess the ability to express yourself in a professional manner through text, and are helpful to the community you won't have to ask for a promotion. Futhermore, there is sometimes an internal debate amongst us as to whether we need more admins or not. By finding posts to reply to and helping out you will be proving that there is room for at least one more.

(I know a lot of this information quite intimately because all of the above is basically my story of how I became an admin not so very long ago.)

  5. Firefox has tried to become everything to everyone and in doing so has become the resource hog IE used to be. Until they fix it (which they have announced they are trying to do) I will be using IE primary.

  6. logo.png is the name of a default image in the WP theme. It is positioned by the WordPress theme.

I can replace the image, no problem, with another as long as I keep the logo.png name but I also want to put another image next to it. None of the .PHP files that come with the theme (shown in my first post) present me with code where I can edit the positioning of the logo.png graphic.

Incidentally, right now I am getting an error 500 on the page but have not touched it since my last post and it was working. Funny, I can ping 360DegreeNetworking.com though.

Cleared cache. Will just wait and see on this part. Please advise on the other if you come up with something. Thanks!

  7. I guess to clarify and bump the question...on my page I have a .png file called logo.png. To the left of it I want to put that spinning globe GIF you see in one of my posts.

I should be able to add a simple table and two cells but which page do I edit? None of the PHP pages have the code that needs to be edited. I guess it is dynamically created by PHP and CSS but there has to be a way.

If I view source on the live page and copy that source to notepad, I can edit it and make the page look how I want it to. The problem is I do not know the name of the HTML page I am editing.

I edited the code and put it in my public_html folder for an example but that is outside of the WordPress admin. If I use that page I give up all the WordPress features.

The WP admin dashboard for this theme at least does not let me edit the needed code, it seems.

  8. People are the weakest link.

Even with great software, hardware and physical security measures, people can and will introduce

viruses and other security breaches into your network.

This can be done through the introduction of physical media, such as music CDs that were burned at

home or pen drives loaded with corrupt data and even bypassing security measures to access

    questionable websites.

The latter is usually done by the guy who has just enough technical knowledge to be dangerous. It could

also be the employee that wants to download their favorite MP3 or that can't wait until they get home

to check their Facebook wall. While you can disable the ability to use flash or pen drives on their

computer and filter the websites they access, there also needs to be strict policy that is taught to the

employees in continuing training sessions. These policies are setup to keep people from inadvertently

jeopardizing network security. Using common sense is always a bonus. If your employees or customers

learn to avoid questionable software, sites and email messages you can avoid a myriad of security

problems. Still, with all these precautions in place, you have some who just don't care. Proper logging

may help to weed out these people for retraining, reprimand or dismissal but there will always be a need

    for non-human intervention. - http://360DegreeNetworking.com
