  1. Thanks for the info. I was baffled because this wasn't happening on Ricky but it was 3 years ago when I got onto Ricky so if I had do something in my account to let it know I'm on ET, I couldn't recall. Make sure you have plenty of gas for your snow blower I went out and got extra yesterday since I'm supposed to get blasted too (90 miles north of NYC)
  2. Could you shed some light on my zip extraction timestamp question? I want to restore the files with their original timestamps. The only way I know to do that is to compress them into a zip file, upload the zip file to my target folder, then unzip it. That's 99% working correctly. When it extracts (I'm doing it in CPANEL), the file date is the original date, but the time is 7 hours off. I'm thinking maybe there's a time zone element at work here. If you look inside the zip file, the time is correct. It's just when it extracts, and I refresh File Manager it' shows 7 hours off. I'm on Eastern Time. Is there anything I need to configure in my Tommy account?
  3. NO WAIT ...PLEASE DON'T ERASE ANYTHING! You found the problem and I fixed it ... Thank you! I accidentally created a file with the same name as the week4 directory I was trying to create. All fixed now ... thank you
  4. Thanks for the follow up. To answer your question no I wasn't in any quota danger on Ricky. I made the donation to help you get your server upgrade and since you were offering more storage according to the amount of the donation I proactively planned a new usage of my web site. So I waited until I got the full 5 GB before I began uploading more data. I just happen to know it was over 2 GB because I had a single 1.44 GB file that took quite some time to upload! Anyway I think that's a great suggestion to hold the account suspended and keep the data for a few weeks until the user has a chance to check everything over. I'm actually surprised you aren't doing this because I originally began at heliohost on Johnny I believe and there were all sorts of problems so I was eventually moved to Ricky. After the move was done, you guys sent me a tar file with all the backup data. Unfortunately that was 3 years ago and it doesn't have what I was hoping you were going to recover today I am in the process of restoring things. I should have just about everything I need locally so it's a matter of getting it all uploaded. Perhaps there is one thing you could help with. Ideally I want to restore the files with their original timestamps. And then there is one other problem that I definitely need your help with. As I'm restoring my data, I'm creating sub-folders. I went to create a week4 subfolder under public_html/pbc and I get this message ERROR: Could not create directory "week4" in /home/daskunk/public_html/pbc: File exists Yet no matter what I do in File Manager in CPANEL, I do not see that folder! If it's there, I can't find it. If it's in some weird state and you need to fully rm it, then go ahead. I have a local copy I can quickly upload. But I do need to create a folder with that name, I have code that relies on it. Thanks again for all the help.
  5. Cant you log into Ricky and look at my account? I was just using it this morning and everything was fine. Since it's only been a few hours since you moved the account aren't the files still on Ricky? Do you have nightly or weekly backups on Ricky? I'm actually more concerned about stuff I don't use everyday (older stuff) as it will be harder for me to figure out what's missing. I can easily re-create everything I've done in the last few days. Believe me there was well over 2GB of data. The reason I made the $30 donation in October was to increase my storage to 5 GB because I needed to upload 2 GB worth of data and my original account was only 2 GB. So if he transfer file was only 12 MB then something went horribly wrong. Can you look at the subfolders in the transfer file. Under /public_html/pbc there should be subfolders named week1, week2, week3, week4, week5, etc all the way to week15. When I first logged into Tommy only 7 of them were there. That was how I immediately knew something was wrong. If the transfer file on Ricky only shows 7 of them then it did not make a complete transfer image of the account.
  6. A data point ... the CPANEL Disk Manager indicates ~52 MB worth of files on Tommy. I had over 2 GB on Ricky. It's not just entire sub-folders missing, it's also files within folders. Not sure if that would provide any clues. Also forgot to mention that I had perl modules in /home/daskunk/perl to be copied in addition to everything under public_html.
  7. OK thank you for the SSL explanation but my biggest concern right now is all the missing data. There is lots of missing data and the majority of my site is gone. Can I have it restored. There are things I need to do today. Thank you
  8. Thank you so much for transferring me but do I need to do something on my side regarding the SSL certificates? I'm getting a security warning from Firefox indicating an invalid SSL certificate. Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to daskunk.heliohost.org. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details. Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for daskunk.heliohost.org. The certificate is only valid for the following names: nossl.heliohost.org, cpanel.nossl.heliohost.org, mail.nossl.heliohost.org, webdisk.nossl.heliohost.org, webmail.nossl.heliohost.org, www.nossl.heliohost.org Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN But the more concerning problem is I just logged into CPANEL and there are numerous folders missing from public_html. Is the copy still in progress? Can you please copy over all the data from Ricky under the public_html folder .. there is critical information in there I need. Thank you
  9. Thank you so much for getting back to me. I donated $30 back in October and here's the reply from your team. Your message (Re: Thanks for your support! We're lucky to have people like you.) has been assigned the tracking ID [HH#917207]. One of our volunteer community members will reply to your email as soon as possible. but will gladly donate another $10 for your trouble of moving the account. My users have had quite some difficulty accessing my site (via http requests) over the past couple of weeks so your help in resolving this is very much appreciated. Here's the transaction information from today's donation. Please let me know when the move will take place so I don't try to do any updates to my web site. 10. Thank you very much for looking into it. Just for my consideration, what is involved in moving to Tommy? I'm not familiar with the server relocation process. Thank you.
  11. Hello Ricky seems to be down again. Does anyone know when it's expected to be up again? Thank you
  12. Thank you for looking into the problem with Ricky and I appreciate the help. I did notice some improvement yesterday, however there still seems to be an issue with serving HTTP requests. I'm still getting lots of time outs when attempting to access web pages on my site. The monitor is showing longer response times with HTTP. Thank you again for any assistance you can provide.
  13. Hello Root Admin I'm on Ricky (and have been for several years). Usually it's fine but over the past few months I've noticed many of the same issues reported by Drdarkdk. The last day or two has been especially bad in terms of unresponsiveness. So I was wondering if a similar explanation applies to Ricky that you gave for Johnny (mainly experimental, cram a lot of users onto it, lots of downtime, etc). My domain is https://daskunk.heliohost.org/ Thank you for any insight or explanation you can offer.
  14. Thank you again for looking into it and finding the root cause.
  15. It looks like it is working now so I assume they were able to track down the source of the problem. Thank you again for responding so quickly
  16. I'm very confused. I went to my main web page a few minutes ago (for the 10th tme today) and all of a sudden I'm getting a screen saying my account is suspended for lack of activity. I know this is incorrect for several reasons. First I'm logged into cpanel right now as I'm writing this. Secondly I've been logging into cpanel daily for the past month, sometimes multiple times per day. Third my website was heavily used yesterday evening for 5 hours. You can check my logs, files and directories. There has been an immense amount of activity the past month. But despite all that, I still went ahead and clicked on the renew account button. After filling in my account it came back and told me the account is active and there's nothing to renew! So something is clearly wrong. This is my main page https://daskunk.heliohost.org/pbc/index.html My user: daskunk My email: daskunkworks@gmail.com My Doman: daskunk.heliohost.org My Server: Ricky Can you please help as I have a lot of remaining work to do. Thank you so much.
  17. Thank you for the response. So is there any way with CPANEL (File Manager) to add Apache (e.g. nobody) to the permission group for the files in that folder so I can leave the permissions at 640 instead of 644?
  18. I have a question regarding file permissions and ownership when using the File Manager in CPANEL and running PHP scripts. When I log into CPANEL with my userid, and upload a file to a folder in my public_html space using File Manager, who is the "owner" of that file? It is my userid? If so, then why does this happen. If I create a PHP script which displays a link to the file I uploaded, and then I try to access that file by running the PHP script in a web browser and clicking on the link, I need to have the public (world) permission bit set. In other words if I set the file permission to 0640, I'm unable to open it via the PHP script. But if I change it to 0644, then I can read it. I thought maybe it was because the PHP scripts are running under some default userid that you control, but I added this call to my script $username = posix_getpwuid(posix_geteuid())['name']; and it tells me that the PHP script is executing under my userid (the same one I use to log into CPANEL and upload the file). So if my userid owns the file, and my userid is executing the PHP script, then why do I need 0644? Why isn't 0640 sufficient? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'm used to being able to ls -altr on a linux box in order to see the owners of all the files in a directory, but with the CPANEL File Manager I can only see the permissions of the files. Thanks very much
  19. Hello, I put in a couple of changes to /home/daskunk/public_html/cgi-bin/psw_cgi.pl in hopes of resolving the loading issue. Looking through the code it's not immediately obvious what is causing the problem, but if by "loading" you mean cpu consumption, I went after the likely suspects. Since I don't have any way to monitor my changes I don't know if I've improved anything. If you can somehow monitor it and let me know, I'd appreciate it. Thank you
  20. OK I put a temp patch in for now which basically exits immediately with a good result. But is there some tool in cpanel I can use to monitor the load it's causing? The patch I put on now bypasses all the "math". But to know whether a permanent fix resolves it, I would need a way to monitor the effects of any change I apply. I appreciate the help. Thanks very much.
  21. Sure I will look into it but can you provide any more details? It's a script for checking passwords for when users log into my web site. I literally have 10 users so on average there might be 1 invocation per every 6 hours. The script has been around for months so I'm trying to think of what could be happening today. Any additional info is greatly appreciated.
  22. Hello For some unknown reason my account was suspended while I was in the middle of using CPANEL. I have no idea what I did wrong. I do need my account back as I'm in the process of updating my web site. Your prompt attention is very much appreciated. Username: daskunk Server: Ricky Domain: https://www.daskunk.heliohost.org Thank you very much in advance.
  23. Is there a problem with Ricky? There's been a lot of time outs and slow or no response over the past 12 hours. If there is an issue or maintenance in progress, is there an estimated up time? Thank you
  24. THANK YOU SO MUCH! When I initially created the daskunk_php userid (weeks ago now) it was my first time working with the Postgresql admin tools and I could've sworn I not only created the user id but added it to the database. I went through and tried adding it again just now, and it says it was submitted successfully. So now when I run the php script I'm past the pg_connect error and on my way with actual queries!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. Thank you again.
  25. Thank you for trying it out. This is what I'm calling from my browser https://daskunk.heliohost.org/pbc/psql.php
