1337 Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 linix is good 4 servers but windows is more user friendly Actually, no. Windoze is for only the newbies that don't know what open source is. Many linux distros (Ubuntu) are made to be user friendly.
Plug Computers Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 You definately have to know much more about computers to use Linux, but if you are knowledgeable in that subject I think its much better than windows. Fewer crashes and more reliable in my opinion.
Kyougi Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Ubuntu is far from user-friendly. It might be easier to use than the rest, but it's still more complicated than Windows.
Mark Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 can someone tell me the difference between the two and are the programs that i use oon windows compatible with linux?
1337 Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 can someone tell me the difference between the two and are the programs that i use oon windows compatible with linux? There are almost always a free software alternative to the Windows programs you use... Although a small few native ports include Azureus, Firefox, Thunderbird, GIMP, Gaim, and a good amount of others.
Dragonfire Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 with the new windows vista, i think microsoft will take the lead, you should check out vista's graphics but it requires a very fast computer with a nice graphic card installed.

Windows Vista is bad performing. Very bad appearence for performance tradeoff. What about Linux with XGL/Compiz? 3-D desktops
open Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 i prefer the more minimalist type themes and linux its not about looks its about the way it performs with its networking capabilitys windows is all about using recources so of course it will have better gui
Kelso Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I used to have a windows box. It came with viruses installed. It would have to be reinstalled every two weeks, and made the CPU sound like a jet engine. Then I switched to Ununtu Linux and was stunned. My favorite part about Linux was the customizability. You can make a top menu bar, a right program folder, a bottom dock, and a bunch of "Widgets" along the left side of the screen. My Vote: Linux, all the way!
the_god_2000 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 linux looks like a copy of mac and i see that in that picture you are lloking at a mac mini would i be right i like mac so they seem the same so my vote is for linux also you can get linux onto ur ipod(pm if anyone wants more info on that)
mushroomz Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Linux+Gnome. It is so much neater looking. And it's also very easy to customize Gnome styles. Just go to http://www.gnome-look.org/
