justSCREAMplease Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Is there a way to install phpBB 3.0.6 or to add it to Fantastico so I can install it? Fantastico only supports v3.0.5 but that version isn't as secure as v3.0.6. Please reply. Quote
Wizard Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Install 3.05 from Fantastico and then manually upgrade using the update package at phpbb.com. Quote

Trebbien Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I installed the newest phpBB version directly without using Fantastico-thing... I just uploaded the phpBB directory to my FTP, setup Database, and then install. Must be honest, that the newest version of phpBB is pretty cool, it's featuring a nice Anti-Spam feature, but it could be better. If the user has not posted once, then they're in one category (if activated), if they have 1 post or more, they're placed in "Registered Users" Quote
cl58 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 You can install any script using FTP. In fact, I prefer standard FTP over auto-installers. As far as forums go, you should check out MyBB. I use that and it's great. Quote

Wizard Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 More like the installation will fail. The install page will bring up a blank. I've already tried to troubleshoot it, but to no avail. Quote

Ashoat Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Wizard: Hmm what? This shouldn't happen. Do you have it uploaded to some directory so I can take a look? Quote
