%s MySQL Placeholder

I am trying to make calls from python to a MySQL database using variables but the placeholder %s is not working.

 

Here is my code:

    mycursor = connection.cursor()

    

    sql = "SELECT * FROM Users WHERE username = %s"

    val = ("Agwebberley")

    mycursor.execute(sql, val)

 

    myresult = mycursor.fetchall()

 

    print(myresult)

Which version of python are you using?
