masavini Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 hi,i installed wordpress, which was perfectly working with my heliohost domain (http://maxetti.heliohost.org). then i added and alias domain (http://riccardomasetti.org) with domain root '/home/maxetti/public_html' and no redirection. finally, i set 'http://riccardomasetti.org' in the 'siteurl' and 'home' fields of the 'wpdp_options' table in the wordpress db. now, if i visit http://riccardomasetti.org i get redirected to http://riccardomasetti.org/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi and if i visit http://riccardomasetti.org/wp-admin/ i get redirected to http://riccardomasetti.org/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fmaxetti.heliohost.org%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1, with a 404 error... what am i missing?
wolstech Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 You haven't waited for the domain to finish setting up. When you add a domain, it can take several hours before it works (up to 2 in most cases, but load can sometimes make it take longer). Wait a few hours, clear your browser cache, and try again. It'll probably work
Flaze Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Clear your cache. It's not connecting to the database this time. Loaded fine now.
masavini Posted February 19, 2020 Author Posted February 19, 2020 thanks for your replies, it is now working indeed... just a couple of suggestions:- update heliohost wikis and howtos, as the 'parked domains' button is not present anymore in cpanel and it has been replaced with the 'aliases' button: it took me several time to guess it...- add a warning in the alias creation page, informing about the need to wait for the changes to work
Flaze Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 - update heliohost wikis and howtos, as the 'parked domains' button is not present anymore in cpanel and it has been replaced with the 'aliases' button: it took me several time to guess it...I've already done it on this alternative wiki: https://wiki.heliohost.org/management/parked-addon-and-sub-domains It's basically the same wiki on HelioNet but with more friendly interface.
wolstech Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 TIL a modern equivalent to that ancient mediawiki install actually exists. I remember the upgrade project being abandoned (I personally never liked MW anyway), but its interesting to see someone rebuilt it in better software.
