stefanscottalexx Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Hi - I noticed the permissions on file '/public_html/mydrupal/sites/default/settings.php' (inside my Drupal installation directory) are read-only. Is it ok if I switch the permissions on this file to read-write? The reason I wanted to edit this file is in order to redirect the URL http://mydomain.com to http://mydomain.com/mydrupal for my Drupal site - while still displaying http://mydomain.com in the browser's address field, as per this suggestion: http://www.wanderings.net/notebook/Main/Re...ToRootDirectory Thanks.
Wizard Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Well if it's in your account, then yeah, sure. If you screw up your account though, it's not our fault. I know a few people who have deleted public_html/ before with bad results.

If I screw up my Drupal installation, I guess I can just delete it and re-install it from scratch. I haven't added any content yet anyways. I'm still on square one, just trying to get my base URL to redirect to a subdirectory, while still looking pretty. Drupal-specific comment: Strangely enough, when I go to http://mydomain.com now it does redirect properly, and it does display the $base_url http://mydomain.com which is what I wanted - without my having edited '/public_html/mydrupal/sites/default/settings.php'. Maybe the system is clairvoyant or something. Thanks!
