Guest akka
Hello all, I've read a few articles regarding how internet domains work for email, but am still uncertain about the implications for me. I purchased a domain name, pointed it at heliohost's DNS servers and added it as an alias to my heliohost domain. With this setup, where will emails addressed to my non-heliohost domain name go? Will the emails arrive at my default heliohost account email? Or do I have to use the mail forwarding service provided by my registrar by editing the MX Records for my aliased domain within cPanel? Many thanks Edited October 9, 2019 by akka
Guest pooks
It should still go to that mailbox, given you have it set to that domain name. Example: mail sent to admin@domain.com will go to THAT specific mailbox. It won't go to admin@domain.heliohost.org. This, of course, is assuming you set up a mailbox at your domain name. wolstech
You can host the mail wherever. If you're using our name servers, there's an option in cpanel to change the MX records if you want to use an outside mail service. By default, the mail will be delivered to the matching mailbox on your hosting account, provided it exists. If it does not exist, it'll go into the catch-all mailbox if you set it up. If there's no catch all and no matching mailbox, the mail will be refused.
