[Solved] SFTP Times Out

First of all, thank you for this great hosting! I really admire this effort.

 

Using Filezilla (3.24.0 and 3.41.2), I tried using SFTP via Filezilla on both Linux and Windows, but I keep getting the following in the log console:

 

Status:    Connecting to johnny.heliohost.org:1373...
Response:    fzSftp started, protocol_version=8
Command:    open "-----@johnny.heliohost.org" 1373
Error:    Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error:    Could not connect to server
Status:    Waiting to retry...
 

(Note I replaced my account name with hyphens)

 

I also tried using fzSftp directly, but it just hangs after the following output in the console (even with verbose flag):

 

0fzSftp started, protocol_version=8
3psftp: Using userhost passed on commandline: johnny.heliohost.org
 

 

However, I can connect and transfer files to my account via normal FTP. I'd really like to use SFTP, since I don't feel secure using FTP.

 

I've tried looking for solutions online to no avail. I came across a similar post on HelioNet and someone mentioned that the router seems to be blocking the outbound connection for port 1373.

 

If that is situation I'm facing, which ports would I have to unblock?

Currently, the firewall settings in my router's admin panel doesn't seem to be showing any filters, so I'm quite stumped unfortunately...

Both by using curl and going to that URL in my browser gives me successful results.

On another note, I was able to get WebDav with SSL to work so I could workaround this.

That's odd that port 1373 is working, but you still can't connect. I have tested SFTP on Johnny and it's definitely working.

I just wanted to follow up that I managed to move over to Tommy, and confirmed that I was able to connect to it via SFTP using FileZilla 3.41.2 on Win7
