sslv3 alert handshake failure: johnny: python: Requests module

I get the error "SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure" when making a GET request using requests.get in python. The code used to work fine. Will moving openssl to a higher version on johnny solve the problem?

Johnny has the latest possible version of openssl already. Both Ricky and Tommy support much newer versions though due to not being stuck on old software like Johnny.
