Hello,

First of all, Happy New Year to the HelioHost team and thank you for being so generous to provide us with such a good free option to test our sites.

I usually manage to figure things out on my own, but this time I'm stumped. I've checked the FAQ and searched on the forums and Google, but I still can't understand how to fix what I messed up. I apologize in advance for the long post.

Basic Information:

Username: kapincho
Main domain: http://kapincho.heliohost.org/
Server: Johnny

What I'm trying to accomplish:

To add to this account the domain http://vashiyatobushtar.com/ as an addon domain with root directory "vashiyatobushtar".

What I tried:

Around New Year's I updated the DNS settings with my registrar to point to your servers (ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org). After that, I logged into my HelioHost cPanel and tried to create the addon domain through the Addon Domains link. (Now I see from your Wiki on Parked, Addon and Sub Domains that I was supposed to do it in the opposite order: first list it as an addon domain in cPanel and then change the DNS settings. What can I say - me caveman, me dumb. )

I received an error message, stating the domain couldn't be added. At the time I didn't think much of it, because I assumed that I probably needed to wait a day or two for the change in the DNS settings to take effect before I could create the addon domain.

A few days later I was surprised to find that in spite of the fact that http://vashiyatobushtar.com/ is not listed as an addon domain in my cPanel, when I access it, I get the standard HelioHost Account Queued page. (It has stayed like that for many days now and yes, I did clear my browser's cache each day before checking the URL.)

Also the Site Publisher in cPanel gives me the option to select http://vashiyatobushtar.com/ as a domain, but there is no root directory listed. If I select the domain and try to publish a temporary template, Site Publisher gives the error: "A problem has occurred: undefined has no properties".

I have again tried to create the addon domain, but am now getting a different error "A DNS entry for “vashiyatobushtar.com” already exists. You must remove this DNS entry from all servers in the DNS cluster to proceed". Does that mean I should go to my registrar and delete your servers from the DNS settings leaving the lines for the name servers blank?

I also tried to create the subdomain "test" for the domain "vashiyatobushtar.com" just to see what will happen and it's created and works just fine, so I'm totally confused.

Again, so sorry for the long post.
Thanks and all the best.

This is a known issue with Johnny's Addon Domain functionality. It's to do with the fact the server is overloaded...the addon domain process times out half way through. Ricky and Tommy don't have this issue.

Try creating the subdomain vashiyatobushtar.kapincho.heliohost.org.

After that, check to see if your addon domain is listed in the addon domains screen. If it is, wait the 12 hours and clear your cache. If it does not appear, let me know and I'll escalate it for you.

Thank you, this worked perfectly. Perhaps the instructions for dealing with this issue could be added to the FAQ - that way less people will bother you about something so easy to fix.

Wishing you all the best! :)
