Bailey Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Hello, What does a dedicated IP actually do? Im still unsure. Thanks,Bailey
Krydos Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Well, for one if our IP gets null-routed due to HE abuse reports your site will stay online. A month or two ago Tommy was down for like 10 hours, and anyone with a dedicated IP didn't even notice the outage. Dedicated IPs also make SSL work on really old operating systems like Windows XP. If you try to go to https on a shared IP on Windows XP there is no way to display the site. It just doesn't work.
Bailey Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 Oh okay, is there a way to make it work on SSL and non-SSL?
Krydos Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Yes, you can use a dedicated IP for SSL and non-SSL.
Bailey Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 Could you please set this up then for me? IP:SSL ~Shows files (working)Non-SSL ~You've installed tomcat correctly...
Bailey Posted December 5, 2017 Author Posted December 5, 2017 I dont need too but Im experimenting with it.
