Upload Site Changes To Server Via Cvs

Hello! I have a question, is it possible to upload site I'm hosting and changes i've made via CVS such git or mercurial, like redhat openshift do? I had read http://wiki.helionet.org/Uploading_files_to_your_site and seems ftp the only appropriate way to do this, which is obviously needs more additional work to do for releasing the code.

You could run something like https://github.com/git-ftp/git-ftp on your home computer. Then when you make the changes via git like you prefer this code will upload only the files that have changed via ftp for you.
