Demi:Pulse Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Ugh. It's been bothering me, but maybe someone could give me a second opinion. I've been through THREE freaking MP3 players. All of them are busted and returned. I'm wondering now, is the iPod worth my while? It looks good and durable, and from a reputable company (debatable)... what bothers me is that the battery will eventually lose it's charge and I'll have to replace it for $80. T__T; What do you guys think? Quote
Quantum Media LLC Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Well, Just a couple of things. I have a Toshiba GigaBeat 20 gig. I LOVE IT and have never had any problems with it. The thing about your batter....always keep it on charge when your not using it. NEVER let it go completely dead. Quote
awesomegamer Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 I thought they solved that problem a long time ago with laptop batteries? Edit: I just realized that is not technically a question. Quote
Kyougi Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 No, they didn't. Gigabeats are good, especially if you replace the firmware with RockBox. Ogg ftw. Quote
Demi:Pulse Posted July 14, 2007 Author Posted July 14, 2007 Wait wait. You can make those things play OGG files!? I'm in! o__o Quote
Kyougi Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Wait wait. You can make those things play OGG files!? I'm in! o__o Lol, yep, yep, just take a look at the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockbox Has MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 support, though, IMHO, that's really no worth 'cuz you are forced to convert your video into that format. AJKING Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 if you get a ipod and you are going to take it everywhere its better not to get a nano they can break easily Quote
Demi:Pulse Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Thanks for the tip. iPods are easier to acquire up here anyways, so I'll probably get a iPod 3G and put that firmware on it. OGG format rocks! Any more tips and suggestions would be appreciated Quote
AJKING Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Yes Good choice i wouldn't recommend the nano if you are going out all the time using it! Quote
naynesh Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 It is worthwhile but it is a bit old now there the ipod touch that very good Quote
santa Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 ipod nanos are good they only mess up if you ruin the system, I use an ipod... there great, Quote
AverageJoe Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 I'm thinking about getting one of those new Iphones. That might be a better choice. Joe Quote
XPlumpedXLipsXandXArsenicX Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Get a *cough* ZUNE *cough*. While the zune is bulkier, the new zune has 80g of storage space. The iPod nao has 2g-4g. No question there. Not to metion a bigger GLASS screen. Quote
misty Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I have an iPod Video(old version). I noticed with iPods, they get scratched and Fingerprinted EASILY. If u do get an iPod, then you should get a case. I have a pink one from a company called Belkin. Quote
