Quantum Media LLC Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 I don't use anything but plain ol' notepad. I write all my HTML coding myself. That way if something is f**ked up, I know its my fault instead of wondering if some program added BullSH** coding in my document that really doesn't need to be there.

At least use an advanced syntax highlighter. Assuming you use windows, Notepad++ is the best for the job. All it is, is a text editor with syntax highlighting, as well as several other features, for HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript, Basic, C++, etc. That is what I prefer to use. However, whenever I go into a professional setting with multiple people, Dreamweaver and sometimes Frontpage is almost always a requirement. Dreamweaver has never added random things whenever I've used it, however, but it's easier to get XHTML 1.1-compliant code that is compatible across browsers by hand.
Quantum Media LLC Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I do use a program called TextPad. It does highlight and change the color of different HTML codes and stuff like that.
AverageJoe Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Do you need to do/download something special for that, because my notepad doesn't do anything of the such. P.S. do you know of a free alternative to dreamweaver?
Mystical Water Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Well i would suggest using Dream Weaver as it is used to make one of the best websites as it supports all the file types for e.g flash, fireworks. This program can only be operated by specialists so i would suggest using Microsoft Front Page for the beginners.
Kyougi Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Ahaha, that's the funniest thing I've heard this morning. Most people can use Dreamweaver in their sleep. Even some of the morons at my school can use it. If we're talking specialists, Notepad is what you should use. Awesomejoe, a GOOGLE SEARCH on the program that I mentioned wouldn't hurt, you lazy person. I do use a program called TextPad. It does highlight and change the color of different HTML codes and stuff like that. But this one has features such as collapsable tags (such as hide everything under a <div> tag if you're not touching it) and a "Preview in Browser" shortcut
Mystical Water Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Oh really? They can use Dreamweaver in sense that they only make a web page upside down without any particular layout and without even using special affects like Fireworks and Flash. Its not so easy to operate it in order to design a very good website.
Dragonfire Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 What's the point of using notepad for designing webpages when you have these good software. You can design the visual look using dreamweaver then for the code notepad's ok.
Mystical Water Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Well exactly, layouts cannot be set accurately using the notepad or they might can be but it would be very difficult. User friendly software make the job easier to develop a website.
Dragonfire Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 If you're a beginner at webdesigning then you needn't worry if its tough for you to learn dreamweaver, ms frontpage is very simple and easy and you'll design the website very quickly, but that would be a begginners website and won't be as good as one made on dreamweaver. Then later on you can shift to dreamweaver when you get to know a bit about webdesigning.
Mystical Water Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 One more supporting answer for my posts, well so do you think you can design better layouts with frontpage or dreamweaver? I can make better layouts with dreamweaver.
Dragonfire Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Me too, but it is quicker with frontpage. Dreamweaver is better in all ways in webdesigning the only downside is that frontpage is simpler and quicker.
Mystical Water Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Well thats correct but still dreamweaver can be used for advanced web designing.
Dragonfire Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Flash is also nice for websites. But the problem is that the visitor then requires flash player. Not all the people actually installed that software but many did. I think you should keep a flash and a non-flash version of your website.
joemama718 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 i was gonna ask about flash vs. html...apart from compatibility are there any other pros/cons of using flash versus using html? personally i like using flash because it's easy to visually arrange everything and you have much more power over pages...but its also a pain to edit...
