[Answered] Domain Mapping: A Question

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to set this up on my wordpress installation but not really sure what to fill in for the server IP and CNAME entries. Also not too sure about how and if I am suppose to add/modify the DNS records in the cpanel.

The wordpress plugin which does this is: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping/installation/

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

EDIT: I'm on Stevie.

r u trying to build multisite ?

I already "built" a multisite, set it up and know how to use it.

However, I am now trying to setup Domain Mapping as it says above. This is what I currently have a few questions about.

Multisite and Domain Mapping are two different things, they work together, but are not the same thing. So if you can help with the "Domain Mapping" part, much appreciated.

Try using 216.218.192.170 as the IP address, unless you purchased a static IP. If so, use that.

The instructions given for the DNS changes in cPanel are written clearly. Follow them word-for-word and you should be fine.

A more general answer that will work for other people who might search and find this thread is that cPanel displays the IP address of your account which you can use for A name records and stuff like this. After you log in http://heliohost.org/ there is an information panel on the left side of the screen that should list your Shared IP Address or Dedicated IP Address (if you purchased one.) But, yes the IP address that Ice IT Support listed is the most likely answer if your account is on Stevie.
