GamerGoddess Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I am running a gaming site and I am thinking about offering to host one or two BYOND games at a time. However I do not know if I have that access, how to use it if I do, or how much cpu it would use per game. If anyone knows something about this please help me out.
Krydos Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I have no idea what byond is, but in general if something requires compiling or running an executable the answer is no; If it just uses a scripting language like php to run or something like that then the answer is generally yes. If you provide a link to the server installation system requirements or installation instructions we can take a look at it and give you a more specific answer. I did notice that you have a tag called "shell" so I can point out that Heliohost users do not have access to shell.
Shinryuu Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 From what I understood here: http://www.byond.com/forum/?post=30260 BYOND is meant to be installed and run from a PC. Also it's an executable so if something requires compiling or running an executable the answer is no
GamerGoddess Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 Thank you for helping, I guess I will have to have someone else host the test runs. @Shinryuu There is a Linux version for hosting the games, you can't play the game from Linux directly but you can host the game world if you have shell access.
