ipoddude Posted April 2, 2005 Posted April 2, 2005 i am wondering if it is possable to connect to a friends router/hub over the internet. I have his IP and we both have a LinkSys Routers/Hub. I would want to do this so that we could system link our XBOX's...which probilly sounds really stupid cause we could just use XBOX Live, but my subscription is going to run out and i dont got money to get another 1. Is this possable to do or not?
lappy512 Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 i don't think so...but there is a way i heard of to connect your xbox to your computer, then your computer to the internet through some program, and you can play multiplayer halo just like your systemlink. perhaps djbob knows.
HerLoss Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 that sounds possible, theoreticly. You'd need to find a program that would connect to the XBL server and your Xbox from your computer. I dont really know, I dont own an Xbox, but it sounds like it should work.
lappy512 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 not xbl, since you have to pay. something else, but i am not sure what. if i find it i will post it. i think djbob knows though, or it was someone else who posted it on KL.
GameClaw_268 Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 I saw some thing somewhere once that let you get free XBL through your comp, but its gone now. Google search might help...
wee Posted April 4, 2005 Posted April 4, 2005 try xbox connect or Xlink Kai. they are tunnel software. you can do any system link game over the internet. just gotta hook up the xbox to the computer via crossover cable if you have a second ethernet card or through a Hub/router/switch
awesomegamer Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 im not so sure as i dont have an xbox, but microsoft would be smart to block this... likely.
GameClaw_268 Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 smart as in, they'd get more money, but people wouldn't like the X-Box as much, and they might end up with less money. They probly aren't taking that chance.
awesomegamer Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 yeah but that would be free when people have to buy it anyway so whats the point? they should allow this for more business i guess so, but then the XBL was a waste and you could get free.... but for the ones who know this i guess its ok and balances out with people who dont know.
lappy512 Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 but see it basically tricks it. unless ms blocks the local connectioins, it basically tricks it into thinking the computer is another xbox.
awesomegamer Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 how could it do that, dont you think there is any information it needs to read when connecting to XBL? otherwise any computer could do it.
