I have to say, I am quite disappointed. Today I found out my personal site is suspended: http://www.paulstaubin.ca The fact that it is supended without warning is one thing, the fact that I did not recieve any kind of communication as to why it was suspended, I find alarming.

-The account was taking up too many system resources.

I find this unlikely, as the audience is myself, infrequently, and the odd coworker. No cron jobs, no software other than a flat-file PHP script. Too bad I can't login to my cPanel to diagnose any performance issues, nor did I get a warning that my site was consuming too many ressources.

-The account has become inactive.

I got a "HelioHost Account Notification" on Monday the 25th which I promptly resset. "If you do not renew your hosting suscription within a week, your account will be permanently deleted. This is your final warning." I would hardly call this a week anyways.

-The webmaster broke the Terms of Service

This is a business-card type website serving a few manuscripts as download. I did not violate anything in the terms of service: http://wiki.helionet.org/Terms

I'm trying to be proactive here.

First of all, HelioHost reserves the right to suspend your account without notice.

Second of all, if you are so upset with this service as you seem to be, feel free to leave.

Third, if you properly followed the instructions for handling suspended accounts, you would be able to find out why your account was suspended (and possibly have it unsuspended) by posting in the Suspended and Queued Accounts forum. There you would see further instruction that you need to provide us with your username, domain and server before we can look anything up in our database. You gave us a complaint, but absolutely no account information to assist us in resolving your issue.

Please confirm that the account that Byron posted above is yours. If it is, then, as Byron said, you were suspended for causing high MySQL load. If, after your provide your account details, you agree to try to limit or throttle your MySQL usage, you can have your site unsuspended.

This is a free service run entirely by volunteers. Please be patient and we will help you as best we can as quickly as we can.

cl58, I am very aware of all of this. I am trying my very best to act in good faith, but I feel completely misinformed

>the instructions for handling suspended accounts

As per the Suspended Account page at paulsta.heliohost.org (for reference that looks like this http://heliohost.org/suspended.page/), I was explicitly asked to post in this subforum i.e. at this link: http://www.helionet....hp?showforum=45 and I quote:

>If you believe this account has been suspended in error you are welcome to create a thread in the support section of our forums

I do not have access to cPanel, FTP, nor did I receive an e-mail. What did you expect me to do?

paulsta.heliohost.org is indeed my account. Anyway I've changed nameservers on the add-on for now. I'm glad that I have the information about MySQL so I can look into it on my dev server, though usage logs would be better. I'll give HelioHost another shot if some kind of documentation/guidelines on appropriate system usage is available. God forbid someone posts a link to you from Reddit and all of a sudden your site is toast.
