  1. It looks OK now. I got the suspended message before. I also got an e-mail with the content below from no-reply@heliohost.org. As long as it's working ... ------- Dear chuck, Your hosting account at HelioHost has been suspended for inactivity. In order to keep your account active you must log into your control panel at least once every 30 days. The last time you logged into your account was 2014-05-12. All visitors to your domain(s) will now see a suspended page instead of your original content. If you still wish to continue using your hosting account you can reactivate it by visiting this page http://www.heliohost.org/home/support/scripts/renew and providing your username in the box. To prevent your account from being suspended again for inactivity in the future, please remember to log into your account http://heliohost.org/ at least once every 30 days. If you have any problems with the reactivation process you can find support on our forums http://helionet.org/ Regards, HelioHost Staff
  2. My account on Johnny was apparently suspended today. The username is chuck. The domain is chuck.heliohost.org. I tried the link in the e-mail I received, but it says that the account isn't suspended. I'm pretty sure I logged in to cpanel last week, so I'm not sure what happened. I cleared my cache. No change. When I try to use the web page to restore the account, I get the message: "We're sorry, but we either could not find that account in the database, or it is not listed as inactive. Please contact an administrator if you feel this message is in error."

  4. Question #1 - I don't have a way to verify that they personally supplied their e-mail, but we run the site with the understanding that all e-mails are only supplied by or for people who have agreed to receive e-mails from the program. At any point if someone indicates that they don't want to participate, they are removed from the system. Question #2 - Both. When a participant in the tournament registers, they get a confirmation e-mail. As the tournament approaches, we use the list to provide information to the various participants. Question #3 - There are two lists, Teams and Volunteer Judges. Once a team signs up, they will be on a list to receive announcements related to the program as we go from year to year. They may remove themselves from the list at any point or ask us to do it. The Judges e-mails are only kept until we send them a thank-you e-mail the day after the tournament. At that point, they will most likely never hear from us again unless they sign up for another year. Some years we have sent out one more announcement at the beginning of the next tournament year. Some of our Judges aren't affiliated with a team and we want to make sure that they know when the system is available for them to register for another year. Quite frankly, I signed up for the Heliohost account to have a personal space to develop the software, mostly because there was no advertised e-mail limit. I've been working with the New Jersey affiliate of the organization for a few years (http://www.njdi.org), but am getting ready for a move to Florida. I've offered the registration system to more affiliates of the DI Organization (http://www.destinationimagination.org/) and have some interest, but none of the others have taken it up at this point - only NJDI. As such, I was looking for a more generic host than any of the individual affiliates could provide. It's also easier to manage the software somewhere I have full access to the site. In the end, if you can help me get past the NJ tournament next month, that would be great. After that I have another year to figure out what my options are. Thanks.
  5. My site was suspended because of hitting this limit. When it was re-enabled, the limit was lowered to 1 / hour. I can't operate the site without hitting that limit. Each time someone registers or updates a registration the system sends them a confirmation and the administrator a notice. Please - I'm trying to get everyone registered by this weekend so we can train our volunteers. The tournament is in another month and then I'll make other arrangements to host the site. I just need to get through the next few weeks. Can you help us?
  6. My account on Johnny was suspended this morning. The account is Chuck and the main url is chuck.heliohost.org. I suspect that there was some resource overage, but I'm not sure which one. We've been having problems getting in at times and it may be that the re-try features in the web browser or e-mail client had something to do with it. I had hit the e-mail limit a few times and had put in a separate request to ask about raising that limit. I'm running an event registration CGI program that we use to communicate via e-mail with people who are registered. We are registering over 100 teams in a competition and 150 volunteers to support the event, so there are a lot of e-mails. Please let me know what the issue was and I'll try hard to fix it. Thanks. 7. On my web page (chuck.heliohost.org) I have a Perl CGI program that is being used to register teams and volunteers for a problem solving competition for kids. One of the features is to send e-mail out to everyone who is registered. The problem is we keep hitting a limit of 60 e-mails per hour. We only send e-mail to people who have registered and supplied us with their e-mail address. Is there any way to get that limit lifted?
  8. That seems to work OK for me. I'll ask my other tester to give it a try. Any ideas on the garbage output that I get now and again? It often happens the first time I try to run a site, but sometimes when I push a button. The output reminds me of what we used to get in the old days with a noisy modem line. I can't make it happen on demand, though.
  9. You can use http://chuck.heliohost.org/scgi-bin/nph-TeamRegistration.cgi?start=admin;affiliate=999 to run the program. For testing, you can use admin as the user name and test as the password. There's no data in the database, but you can push a few buttons and navigate to a few different pages. This is an upgrade to a program I have been working on for a few years now and had hosted on another site last year.
  10. I have a strange problem with a CGI program written in Perl on Johnny. I have a report from a user that when they invoke the script or hit one of the buttons it creates (which re-runs the script) that sometimes the code downloads instead of running the script. The script is in my /scgi-bin folder, and has a .cgi extension. It runs normally (most of the time) on Windows using Internet Explorer 8 or 11 (what I have). One of my testers was running Chrome on a MacBook and got the strange behavior. The thing is, I didn't know that the browser or operating system could even do this. I'd expect that the server would always run the program or download it when it receives a request for that URL. By the way, the "most of the time" seems to be another glitch that I can't explain. Sometimes when I try to invoke the script it gives me a bit of garbage text instead of the form I expected. Generally hitting refresh will clear this. Any help with either of these behaviors would be appreciated.
  11. No, I never got the e-mail that I tried to send after creating the chuck@chuck.heliohost.org e-mail account. I checked the spam folder and since it was a reply to a received message, I believe that the e-mail address was correct (it also looks correct in the copy saved in the sent e-mail folder). Additionally, I still have no explanation for the original error message above. It appears that a reply in webmail from the chuck@johnny.heliohost.org e-mail address was trying to be sent via chuck@chuck.heliohost.org e-mail address, even before it was set up. Could there be an error in the set-up of the default chuck@johnny.heliohost.org e-mail account?
  12. OK. I guess what you're telling me is that the default e-mail can't be used to send from webmail. So, I created chuck@chuck.heliohost.org and replied to a mail sent to the default e-mail. There was no error and the e-mail went into the sent folder, but it never arrived back to the sender that I replied to (another e-mail that I own and used to test this). Any idea where it got lost?
  13. I tried asking this before, but I think I wasn't clear enough about the nature of the problem. I get an error when trying to send e-mail from my webmail account that is the default one created along with my account. Whether I reply to an e-mail or try to send a new one I get - Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable 550 Verification failed for <chuck@chuck.heliohost.org> No Such User Here Sender verify failed My account is on Johnny. The url for the web site is chuck.heliohost.org. The strange thing is, I can send e-mail to chuck@johnny.heliohost.org and it comes through. A previous response to this question indicated that this should not happen, but I've received many e-mails to that address. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. By the way, I have Outlook connected using IMAP also to chuck@johnny.heliohost.org. If you are going to change it so that won't work any more, please send me an e-mail there first so that I can disconnect that before it does an annoying number of failed connection attempts. Thanks.
  14. I get an error when trying to send e-mail from my webmail account. Whether I reply to an e-mail or try to send a new one I get - Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable 550 Verification failed for <chuck@chuck.heliohost.org> No Such User Here Sender verify failed My account is on Johnny. The url for the web site is chuck.heliohost.org, but the e-mail address is chuck@johnny.heliohost.org. I'm pretty sure that this is a relatively new problem, but I haven't tried sending from the webmail host in some time. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
  15. I'm connecting to my e-mail (chuck@johnny.heliohost.org) using IMAP in Outlook 2010 on Windows 7. I periodically get a pop-up dialog with the message: "Filesystem notification initialization error -- contact your mail administrator (check for configuration errors with the FAM/Gamin library)". I have other e-mail connections using IMAP that don't do this. Any ideas?
