For me it is clearer to have the domains in the home directory so public_html is not stuffed with folders. As well all sub/addon- domains are accessible via the main domain and i have to block them.

The one or two people who kept data in folders other than public_html lost information because I assumed (and for the sake of speed on the backup script) everyone would keep everything of importance in public_html.

 

Actually, the only people I've seen keep websites anywhere other than public_html other than Nyten are phishers who are trying (and failing) to hide their scam sites...

Fortunately, we rarely need the backup script. You recommend to create frequently backups of our sites anyway.

You took a lot of time, so what are the main disadvantages?

Is there still an answer to be expected?
Otherwise I have to use symlinks for all subdomains, which is quite annoying..

Sure, you just have to rent the domain sylviareyn.org and add it as an alias domain in cpanel.

If you don't want to keep sylviareyn.heliohost.org, change your main domain here instead adding sylviareyn.org as alias domain. (http://wiki.helionet.org/Changing_your_main_domain)

i recreated my old *@online.de adress and added also the *-old@online.de adress but didn't recieve a mail (spam checked)

I only noticed, since the domain root folder was freely selectable at Stevie.
