  1. Hi I have been having big issues with my website this weekend. Fortunately, it is only a test site but access to it is regularly disrupted, either a long time loading leading to time out or simply a message that there is no connection to it. All the years I have had a Heliohost account, they have always been plagued by the same issue. I have signed up to another free hosting company and whilst they do not provide all the features/apps you do (that I don't need!), they are a helluva lot faster and more reliable! I am TRYING to move my WP site to this new company but I am finding it IMPOSSIBLE to even attempt to move the .~300MB migration .wpress file and I URGENTLY need to do this as I have to show my site for my end of year project and since your hosting service is so unreliable, it's likely my site will not even load when I give my presentation leading to me losing marks.. I should mention that the transfer speed would be about 3kbps and it said it would take 18hrs to transfer! PLEASE can someone help me with this issue? I notice that to even get to this page to write this post took a couple of tries and a long wait for it to load so perhaps you are having general network issues in Heliohost this weekend? Thanks *UPDATE - I am now trying via FTP and it seems to be working much better with a ~300kbps transfer speed!
  2. Hi I have not been able to use my heliohost account for months as I forgot my password and each time I do a reset I never get any email! Yes, I have checked my SPAM folder and whatnot but this is really p*****g me off as all I can do it reactivate my dormant account all the time and now, when I really need to upload a website for feedback on an assignment, nothing is working! I have never had anything but problems with Heliohost. Granted it is free, but I just use it for testing (like once/twice a year) and either the server is so unreliable, down all the time or database gets corrupted etc. I could not imagine relying on Heliohost for any serious hosting, but what I definitely have learnt is that you must get a stable and reliable hosting provider if you are serious about creating websites; unfortunately, I would never consider to pay for Heliohost due to all these issues I have faced nor recommend it to anyone. I understand you work hard for free but please could someone please sort out the (basic) damn password reset for me! Thank you!
  3. Thank you so much for your answer. I did a search for what you mentioned and I set the permalinks to default and everything is working again! Thanks!!! I will make sure to change my database to iSAM now incase of any dramas in future. Thank you again! Btw, how can I convert my database from InnoDB to iSAM? I have tried ALTER TABLE 'table name' ENGINE=MyISAM but it tells me there is an error..do I have to run ALTER TABLE 'table name' ENGINE=MyISAM by clicking every table then running that command in SQL?
  4. Hi My site went down in the Johnny crash a few weeks ago and when things appeared sorted, it was claimed that there was no loss of data. Unfortunately, the only page that works for me is my homepage and all the other links seem to have disappeared and just come up with 404. Wordpress shows the pages in the WP Config page but when I try to view them individually I also just get a 404. Would you be able to tell me whether my data has actually been lost as I am at a loss what to do since this was my 1st ever wordpress site. Also, I had not chosen to use InnoDB, it was selected by default and I am not versed in all this kind of stuff. I just joined to make a site for someone else and needed a server to use Wordpress on! ) I have tried to run a command I found online to change the database to iSam but it didn't want to work. I will try it again and see what happens. http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/15359-solved-johnny-innodb/page__fromsearch__1 was the original thread I posted in. Thanks Papito papito.heliohost.org
  5. Well thank you for that reply, it explains a lot! I had written a thread but I couldn't find it until (it was deleted) I started going through the other threads and found my post cut/pasted here.
  6. My WP website went down on the Johnny crash and it now shows database errors in the backup and the WP installation screen comes up. I posted some info for support but you have deleted my post?! Please tell me why? I had sent 2 support mails from the CPanel already with no reply so I posted on here. So much for support.... papito papito.heliohost.org Johnny I have tried to reinstall WP again but it comes up with 'WordPress database error: [unknown storage engine 'InnoDB']' So I am at a loss what to do Ok I see you have merged it with another one 'Johnny Innodb'...I would not have realised if I did not go through every other post on the CS section Thanks! I guess u can delete this thread now
  7. Hi - cPanel user name: papito - main domain: papito.heliohost.org - server: Johnny I created my 1st WP site last week after finally getting mostly uninterrupted access to Johnny (since the past 2wks since my account creation I was unable to do very much since it kept going offline frequently). I noticed 2 days ago I was getting a database error but was able to log into CPanel. MySQL told me the database was offline when I tried to access it. The next day the site connected but it just comes up with the Wordpress 5 minute installation. Trying to check the database in MySQL tells me that it is 0MB and on doing a backup, the log file mailed to me comes up with: I have read one similar posting online and it suggests that the database engine has been changed from MyISAM to InnoDB from which it needs to be changed back, analysed & recompiled. I don't have any knowledge or experience of databases so if anyone could please help it would be much appreciated. Thanks Papito
