  1. Why don't you use Uninterruptible power supply to prevent this happening ?

I hope that ups is already in use. I think that djbob meant hard drive, etc failures.

  2. We have safe_mode disabled, and we don't erase .htaccess files.

.htaccess files on your site seem to be working fine for me. I have setup a test .htaccess in your root directory that redirects http://centralgroup.heliohost.org/djbobRedirect to heliohost.org.

Hmm, strange. They are working, then.

But then what might be causing the blank page problem? (The page is still http://centralgroup.heliohost.org/install/...p;language=en.)

The given url doesn't exist; your url has ".)" at the end of it. Secondly your url deosn't include the forum folder.

  3. Yeh we signed up with the url www.urbanartworks.net. we have bought that url so shouldnt we log in at www.urbanartworks.net/cpanel????

    thanks

    Yes, you should.

  4. I've just registered my account, but I cannot log in. Some minutes ago, I received this mail (without any reference to the error occured) so I tried to ri-register my account, but both username and domain name have already been taken. Is there a way for recovering my domain?

    Thanks, gimuto.

    Dear Gimuto,

Your hosting account at HelioHost has encountered an error during installation. The error is:

Please visit http://www.heliohost.org/scripts/signup.php and try to signup again.

    Regards,

    HelioHost Staff

    Wait for djbob.

  5. Pleas enable correctly the pdo and pdo_mysql extensions. I get the following error when I try install piwik (http://piwik.org):

You need to enable the PDO and PDO_MYSQL extensions in your php.ini file.

On a Linux server you can compile php with the following option --with-pdo-mysql  In your php.ini, add the following lines
    extension=pdo.so
    extension=pdo_mysql.so

  6. @ papukai

Co.cc is working for me now! New problem related to it however: Some Images don't load and that really blows. I try using m heliohost url and images load just fine. what's the deal?

Check file permissions. I had images with a permission of 700, put them back to 644.

  7. We don't get enough traffic for lighttpd to make a difference. Our problems stemmed from an incorrect setup.

17 000 accounts and not enough traffic?

  8. [*]The issue with this was that Apache now had to process an absolutely huge configuration file every restart. It took almost a minute to start up. cPanel needs to restart Apache for every new account it creates, which meant that HelioHost had about a minute-long downtime every ten minutes. This was not acceptable.

[*]The biggest problem is that eight cPanel VPS licenses would cost about three times as much as the current single standard license. We don't have the funds for this, as a result.

[*]Try to get somebody to donate cPanel licenses. cPanel licenses are a major cost to HelioHost, especially if want to try point #2. I have asked cPanel for free licenses, but they are not willing to provide us with them because we may be hosting commercial sites. Ideal places to ask for free cPanel licenses: cPanel executives, cPanel license resellers.

Why not replace Apache by lighthttpd? It's much more lightweight and faster than Apache. And why not try DirectAdmin? Paid accounts, surveys and mailing lists would be ok.

  9. 1.

My issue revolves around co.cc domains.

others (just one or two) can view my website using the co.cc domain i use but I can't. what's the deal?

thing is, I have another host. That host also uses one of my domains from co.cc but the domain there works for everyone and for me.

with heliohost however, only one or two (confirmed) were able to view my site and as stated earlier: I can't.

Is it the co.cc services or is it heliohost fault?

Confirmed. This is a HelioHost's issue. I'm not an expert in dns, but it seems that some isp's servers need error-free dns servers. There is a topic about the co.cc problems. Here are some more topics about co.cc/dns problems:

    http://www.helionet.org/index/index.php?showtopic=4070

    http://www.helionet.org/index/index.php?showtopic=4056

    http://www.helionet.org/index/index.php?showtopic=4060

    2. This is maybe the reason for the co.cc problems: There are some dns-errors with heliohost.org (and wit helionet.org).

    See http://www.intodns.com/heliohost.org and http://www.robtex.com/dns/heliohost.org.html

My isp's proxy server gives this error message when I try to access my website. Without the proxy server I got Firefox's errror message saying "Server not found".

    504 Gateway Timeout

    The following error occurred:

A DNS lookup error occurred because the request timed out during the lookup.

    Date: Tue, 07 Apr 2009 12:58:32 GMT

    Appliance: netapp4

    3. The server is running out of disk space (copied from the cPanel's server status):

    Disk /dev/sda1 (/) 81 %

    Disk /dev/sda3 (/usr) 100 %

    4. There are some [topic=4092]e-mail[/topic] problems. Posible reason: there are no MX A records for heliohost.org

  10. Ha, I can see your real website too. Why don't you try a different browser or a different computer? It seems like only you can't see the site.

    I too can't access buildapc.co.cc.
