I want to get the hosting account deleted, so that I can create a new account. In 2008 I signed up for hosting account. Due to consistent connectivity problems, I just dumped it. I tried again in 2011 hoping that things would have improved. Now I am getting new kind of problems. They would not delete a hosting account and advice to leave it for a month so that it is automatically deleted. I have seen such advice back in 2008. I am not going to make any such request. Just leave it to happen automatically, I am in no great hurry now.

Giving up. Will come back after a couple of months and try again. Hope things stabilize by then.

I am getting server not found error. I am visiting for first time and not using opendns now. Hence it is not a browser cache or dns cache issue.

You are right! It works for sometime and fails again in a flip-flop manner. Don't ask me to clear cache. I am clearing cache each time before testing, and trying with different browsers- FF, IE and Opera. I think I should wait for few days and come back to check allowing more time for the person who is trying to troubleshoot and correct the issue.

I uploaded some contents, redirected (301 redirection) my main site and another "test.upendran.com" to the directory. Everything was working fine about 6-7 hours back. Now the problem is back again. (Yes, I do clear my cache and re-check before reporting problems) I am on Stevie.

Back to square one Disabled OpenDNS. Now getting "Account Queued page". With OpenDNS getting an error message from OpenDNS. Even for adding this reply I had to wait for ages.

cPanel user name: upendran website; upendran.heliohost.org I signed up for hosting and created a small index.html file displaying "coming soon" to start up. Till yesterday the site was loading and displaying the page. Today the site does not load. cPanel is working fine and main domain name entry is ok. Ping to upendran.heliohost.org is working. Only thing I did was to add upendran.com as addon domain and uploaded my site by FTP. I have not pointed my "A" record. I will do that only after ensuring that everything is fine. (It is an existing site and I do not want to break it). I have kept my nameservers with my Registrar and managing it myself. One more piece of information: I have just subscribed to opendns. Hire / Borrow a hard disk for few days, backup all user data, re-format / re-install system, restore user data. This could be a feasible solution, assuming hardware problems are ruled out for sure.

For most part of today (IST: GMT+5:30) both heliohost.org and helionet.org were down. Ping returned time-out error. Even ping to name servers returned time-out error.

Is it absolutely necessary to delegate DNS services to your servers to add my own domain(s)? I use the services of dnspark.net for my dns service. I get excellent enterprise grade services free of cost upto two domains and 200,000 DNS queries per month. I use Google apps for email and chat, MS Office Live for web hosting. I want to try heliohost for for managing dynamic content (I will experiment with some CMS and decide on that). By changing name servers I will have to disrupt existing services. Besides I do not want to leave dnspark.net Is there a way out? Letting me add a host record in my current dns and allowing me to add the add-on (sub)domain to heliohost will not affect you in any way. Update: Eventhough cPanel says that DNS service must be delegated to your servers. It allowed me to add the addon domain (a sub-domain under my main domain). Then I added a host record to my DNS pointing to the shared IP address displayed in cPanel. It works!

I found it extremely difficult to register in the forums due to highly unreadable CAPTCHA image. Attempts to register keep on returning an error message stating that the registration code does not match the image. I suspect some other problem too. Even in cases where myself and another person could read the image clearly, the same error message returned. I tried all sorts of tricks like copying the image to a photo editor, enhance the image, change to grey scale etc. I took the help of another person to ensure that both of us see the same code. Nothing worked. After sustained attempts (I lost count) for an hour or so the registration was accepted. This time I entered the code casually without even verifying!! Meanwhile I contacted djbob using his personal email id (Don't ask me how I got it!), sent him screen shots and copy of the CAPTCHA image. He acknowledged that there seems to be some problem and the registration goes through after a few attempts. In my case I got it right after many many attempts. I suspect some problem in matching codes vs images. This will put off many users and you will not even know. There is no obvious method to contact / inform the admin without registering.
