I like VLC because it doesn't seem to have the codex problems that some of the others seem to have. WMP doesn't work right on my pc...it only goes to about half of my pc's potential volume, so that pretty much rules that out. I actually tried media monkey for awhile, but it just didn't suit me. EDIT: whoops, I forgot about Quintesential medial player. That's my favorite audio player. It never seems to have any problems

I'm running Vista. I'm not sure what the default was, but anyway, it goes to a folder on my C drive called downloads. If I open up my downloads dialog, and then right click a download, the open and open containing folder are grayed out. I've watched it happen before. I would download something, open up the folder and watch it disappear right out of the folder as soon as the download completes...it's weird...

I've always been a major firefox guy...or at least for a couple years. However, whenever I try to download something with the built in download feature, as soon as it completes, firefox deletes the file! I couldn't figure out what was going on so I just used one of Firefoxes other great features(add-ons; flashgot) to download my files. So, maybe I just got a buggy installation and the downloads will work once I get around to reinstalling it. *hands goes up in the air*

7 Reasons why the world will end in 2012
jjpriest25 replied to JimBOB's topic in Philosophy, Politics, and Science
Now that I think about it...wasn't somebody saying that there was going to be an 8.6 earthquake sometime in May in the Midwest US that would practically cut the ground in half? This "7 reasons why the world will end in 2012" thing is just another weird prediction that people like to do. Like that earthquake and other less catastrophic events. With all the flooding going on around the world, it's only a matter of time before people start building arks because they'll all start to believe it'll flood for forty days and forty nights... As far as the mutant flamingo battle party--I'm totally in. Just let me know when and where and I'll bring my own flamingo. -
puma That's funny; I was going to say yams too...

Ack. An old topic revived from the dead(although not necessarily a bad thing...astronomy's pretty interesting). Anyway, I was just thinking about the stuff you can see when you just look up into the sky. You can see the moon. I think sometimes you can see Mars. And sometimes you can see some other planet, a planet that looks bigger than the moon. Is that Jupiter? or am I mixing that up with something else?

My friend signed up as Joe a couple days ago. He now somehow has 500,000+ helions in his bank, but he only has 2 posts. Can you take a look at this?

I was walking down the road when I accidentally step on a rather ugly beetle. Suddenly, a wizard pops out of thin air, yells at me, "You just killed my brother!" He then snaps his fingers and I become a bacteria. For days upon days all I did was mitosis and other bacteria stuff. Then, while inhabiting a hamburger, some guy ate me. While sitting in his digestion system I found the very hat I had earlier when I was a human! How ironic!

I don't want to look like an idiot...but urls can't have spaces in them, right? That link has a space after reconstitution.

I tried using the popfly game creator. I never actually got around to doing anything because I have dialup, but it seemed like it was pretty limited. I'm not sure about the rest of popfly. I wasn't even sure what a mashup was...

I'm a definite believer in God no doubt in my mind...however, I'm not 100% sure that the Bible is always right or the way most Christians think is right. In my mind, the basis of the Bible is true. It's just the tales got twisted a little bit, with addons and such, and now we've got what we've got. Honestly, I agree suiren. I believe that evolution and God's creation of the earth go together. I think that the start of everything was God. Has all the stuff in the world lasted forever? I think not. But my mind isn't really capable of thinking in that kind of term. Something that has always existed just doesn't make since in my mind. That's why I think that God must have created a big mass, forced the big bang, and then created a living creature. He had to have created something living because everything was nonliving. Spontaneous generation has been proven false. So he had to have created the first living thing. From there, animals have evolved, eventually becoming what they are today. To answer you Trippin, I think the Bible stories aren't exactly right. People were the one's writing it and people can be biased or uninformed or mentally retarded. So I don't think it's impossible that the Bible has some false spots. Therefore, dinosaurs could have lived before humans, and God can still have done every thing he has done.

I'm trying to get a general opinion of the graphics card makers. I'm trying to keep an open mind so that when I upgrade my computer I can get the best hardware for it. However, I tend to lean toward ATI because one of my Nvidia cards fried in my sister's pc. I had to spend a late Friday night trying to recover documents from that pc, so that really detracts from my overall opinion of Nvidia. Most games advertise for Nvidia so it seems that they must be passable. So what do you guys think?

I'm not really a noob, but I thought that there was a chance that this was a noob question so I'll ask it here. What is a cron? I honestly don't even have a clue what it is other than when djbob said that he was limiting them. Is it a cron job? I don't know what that is either but I've heard that term before. I'm like Trojan X. I don't know where to put this because I don't really know what it is...

I feel like a total NOOB. I've never paid any attention to that. I'm glad you pointed that out. Thank you awesomejoe! I couldn't figure that out. No wonder I couldn't ever collect interest, I kept stupidly depositing helions every time I got just a few. That's a pretty good FAQ.

I haven't gotten around to testing it, but man, it's expensive! Actually, compared to other video software, I guess it's not really. But that stuff is expensive!

Ah, I wonder where this hat came from...hmm...I guess I'll keep it for awhile. I hope no one steals it from me.

In today's society, I believe hunting is very unnecessary--or at least in the U.S. Once people hunted to live. They had to hunt to have food, clothing, and perhaps weapons. Now, most people can have all that without hunting. So that makes hunting unnecessary. I'm not saying this is how it is everywhere; I'm sure in some places people still need to hunt. Sometimes the whole population control thing comes into play. I have somewhat mixed feelings about this. Yes, if there are too many of one species, it would make it even worse for every individual, but I agree with Wizard. You could also argue that the human population is becoming overpopulated. My last science book sure thought we were definitely on the way. But do we allow hunting of people for population control? Of course we don't! As you can tell, I'm not a hunter. For those of you that like to hunt, I hold absolutely nothing against you. Many people do it. Many people in my neighborhood do it. People do it on tv. I even like deer sausage and jerky. So it's a very real part of the world, whether my opinion is for it or against it. And hunting will probably always exist while animals inhabit the earth.

Kinoki foot detoxification, lol

Most of the results on that page were about how it was a bogus product--not just the first one. Anyway, I've done some thinking and researching on this product, and it seems that the human body will release a certain amount of toxins with perspiration naturally. Also, my uncle said that a friend of his bought the pads just to do some tests on them, and they turned dark just by rinsing normal tap water on them. At least the commercial was pretty hilarious, despite the fact that it seems to be completely bogus. I hope your eyes haven't sustained any permanent damage. I tried to compose this post with better conventions, although I can't promise much because I haven't written much since school ended. -
The home page looks nice. However, I have dial-up so after about 8 minutes, I still only see the first couple inches of "Stevie"

Determining the type of processor to buy
jjpriest25 replied to jjpriest25's topic in Technology and the Internet
Yeah, I don't really want to do that because I just bought some ram that is the old(ancient) ddr type and it definitely wouldn't be compatible with a new board. I really need to get a new mobo though because I don't even have pci express ports...It's only a matter of time though before I win some big contest and get a huge burst of money and then I'll be able to build my dream machine; as apposed to what I'm doing now(Which is just slowly upgrading nearly every part in the machine). Thanks for all the help guys
