  1. Well you could set up one page spammed with ads and everyone go there a bunch :)

This should sufficiently explain my absence.

Same here. Except it's going to be even worse when beach season comes around.

I think you should cut all the unneeded accounts, put back in the three-month policy, and put ads in cpanel + forums. Maybe get a plugin where they go in-between the posts as well.

  2. (1) Evolution Is a Religion:

As Evolution is a theory, to take it as fact brings in an amount of Faith or Belief, therefore in my opinion making it no different from a religion.

""I do not believe in God, so my religious beliefs do not counter evolution""

A scientist does not take evolution as fact. In fact we are 99% sure that the theory is wrong.

However, in general, we are making an educated guess that the theory is correct.

We are 99% sure that the general idea of the theory of evolution is correct.

    (2) Evolution Is not Proven - It is a Theory:

As of yet, there has been no proof that evolution has or can occur. This include fossil records etc...

There is copious amounts of evidence (including fossils) that support the theory of evolution.

"There is physical proof of gradual change in animals until they become a new species (fossils)"

    Yep

    (3) Theory's are not called facts for a reason!

IM quite happy you guys brought up the theory of graverty in this, and i hope you all believe in evolution as much as you believe in 'Newton's theory of gravitation'. Why do i say this? Simple, because its wrong and we have known this for nearly 100 years. And when it comes to quantum mechanics we have to create a whole new set of theories because all our old ones FAILED to explain what was going on.

"Evolution is considered a theory. In Science (as I learned in school), a theory is a well-tested concept backed up by a good amount of evidence

    Scientists believe it

    It makes sense"

I did not state Newtonian gravity if I recall correctly.

However this just further proves my point. We know that on Earth has a gravitational pull. In general the Newtons theory of gravity worked. Then when it failed we altered it.

The theory of Evolution will fail. When it does it will be a great day in science because we will learn from it and generate a new theory (which will probably have the same general basis as evolution) which explains how organisms evolve.

"Everything evolves into a state in which it is more stable" Interesting point, considering evolution involves the INCREASE in complexity and many radioactive elements actually devolve (if you want to use that terminology) into less complex atoms.

They evolve into less complex atoms because this allows them to be more stable state.

"It's hard to argue against selective breeding, which is a process of evolution to a certain degree...(artificial evolution but still 'evolution' technically speaking.")

You consider selective breeding "artificial"? I don't know about you but I, as well as most other humans and species (hopefully) don't mate with any person of the corner.

In other words, we "select" who we mate with.

Let me get this right... you major in biology and STILL cannot see that selective breeding and evolution are different theories? And that selective breeding does not prove evolution?

I'm guessing you don't have a major of any kind in the subject.

"But If God created two humans (Adam and Eve) and all the creatures, did god create dinosaurs. Doesn't the bible say that god created earth, then light then humans (maybe not in that exact order but they were within days of each other)

So where do the dinosaurs come from? Dinosaurs lived before humans, and were extinct before humans, did the dinosaurs live grow up have multiple generations of child dino's then become extinct all within the first day of earth being created?"

Err no, Dinosaurs were created at the same time as man (within a few days), the entire concept of dinosaurs before humans is not a creationist concept. There is a theory saying that they came first - but no facts.

I loved going through the creationist museum. It was almost as interesting as visiting the Flat Earth Society's website.

I loved how they had the saddle on one of the dinosaurs (insinuating we rode the like horses).

My favorite thing was their explanation for why we don't find any human fossils from the same time period as dinosaurs (more than just a few days apart).

    Their explanation?

The dinosaurs ate all of the fossils.

" Scientists have actually observed it happening on insects and things with very short lifespans. Surely that is evidence enough? Let alone all the fossil evidence there is!"

    Actually no and no.

You would fit in great at the Flat Earth Society. All you have to do is come up with BS answers and blame everything else on the other persons idiocy or call it a conspiracy.

    Looks like you've been training.

Except for this one your answer was just "no."

"Isn't solar panels, looking at the sun, and scientific evidence enough to prove that the sun emits light?"

"no, no, and no" < ----- this is equivalent to your response.

  3. I created a new email address, support@hrcomputer-repair.com. However, when I try and test it out by sending an email from another account, it doesn't receive the email.

What steps could I take to try and fix this problem?

    Joe

  4. Did you create your own forum software or are you using a pre-existing open source alternative such as phpBB or smf? Please include some more details.

Also another tip, allow people to be able to see the forum without having to register. It will draw more people and help with search indexes.

    Joe

  5. I don't like to use Wikipedia for the simple reason that anyone can edit the information on their website. If I know that I am using it for something someone will not read, then I will use it, otherwise, Google is a wonderful option.

If your on this forum then you probably know how easy it is to make your own website. In that case anyone could make a website with what the call factual information. I could make a site that says JFK was an alien and that he killed Hitler. Unlike wikipedia, however, people could not correct the misleading information on my site.

Truthfully any source you get could be false and they can only be verified by getting multiple sources with reliable and similar information.

  6. Well I only had my dad's camry for a while (It's not all that great). I have been saving for a car since I was young so I was able to buy my own. I got a 1999 eclipse spyder 2.4L

I don't have any pictures of my car, but it is essentially the same as the pics below except it's white and has a black interior and soft top.

I'm getting a new sound system in it (just saved up for it), I'm going to lower it (next) then repaint it(last).

  7. I'm glad to see heliohost back up!

Ever plan to send email to notify members to come back? Some of them doesn't know server has recovered.

Maybe all the spammers will think helionet is down and not come back :)

  8. Okay, so forgive me if I missed something, but exactly how are we suppose to register for a domain once the required post count is achieved?

Before we just needed to send you a domain item from the store, but we don't have that now...

That is a good question since I'm planning on getting one in the near future.

As for the whole helions for bragging rights....

Forgive me for saying this, but your life must be pretty pathetic to need a fake IPB currency for bragging rights.

  9. I think we shouldn't consider an IRC chatroom until we are sure we could have at least 2 moderators idle on it at any 24-7.

    Even then it's far fetched.

Also, we could equipped the bot to answer questions asked a thousand times, so that they won't pollute our forums anymore.

Or we could make a FAQ ;)

  10. Well if we we're to do a chatroom it would probably be an IRC channel in which members could join and get support. I really don't think that it would be too popular, however. We would also have to keep 24 hour moderation of the chatroom. It's just not feasible.

As for the shoutbox, I think it's just a plain bad idea. It's only going to be used to spam on useless and non-intelligent topics.

  11. When I saw it, it started around 10:15 and we didn't get out until a little after 1:00. It was long.

Anyways, I think that the joker was the only good character in the movie (in terms of entertaining). The Batman sounded like he was 70 and the other people were just well ... not exciting.

To me it wasn't worth the $9.50 per ticket I had to spend to see it.

Anyways, I think we should hold the rest of the movie reviews/conversations in the "Other" forum because the posts really don't deserve getting helions or post counts.

    Joe

  12. *pokes* I never said anything about being loyal. I just said that if someone is around to post 500 times, they must have made friends on the forum to stay so long... or maybe they're just a loon. wink.gif

If you make friends by playing games on forums you must be loon ;)

  13. Everyone keeps on mentioning how loyal they are because they post so much. I bet if I/you go back and look at your posts at least 50% of them will be on stupid threads like counting to 1,000 and the other 40% will be stating the obvius and non-helpful posts. Maybe 10% of them will actually be good, intelligent posts.

  14. @JCX, you think it's unfair your losing 15k? I'm losing 1 million, plus 15k plus some more k =P

I'm more concerned about the forums than about some stupid helions.

Hmmm... I see a potential for corruption though. A few people could make a coalition and give each other a bunch of "karma" just to get a domain. Perhaps if only reputable members could give out "karma"?

Well I say only one karma point per helpful reply, per thread. You could also display it.

    ie

    billy asks question

    joe answers question

billy is grateful and therefore rewards joe with +1 karma. (which shows up on joes post).

    joe goes and spams

    moderator gives joe -1 karma

    joe now has 0 karma.

  15. I think we should get rid of it all together. The only problem is you would have to make posts in the "Other" forum not count. I would like to see people get rewarded for discussing web-development / hosting / related issues, not playing scrabble on a forums board.

As it is, I make 2x,xxx helions in interest. Thats four domain names. If someone else got that amount of helions, they might abuse it (I really havn't been using heliohost lately, since I've been busy).

I think we should have a karma level/system. Where if someone makes a succesful/helpful post, you can give them a rep/karma point. And use that instead. This would force people to talk more about web development / hosting (what the site is actually about) than playing "Find the hat" or posting "I agree" a million times.

    Just my two cent,

    Joe

  16. The 'other' forum no longer gives helions tongue.gif Check Here

    Yay!

I figured out how to automatically collect my Helion interest, so I thought I'd share.

I've figured out a way a long time ago. I didn't share, nor use it, however, because that would be defeating the purpose of the interest system. The interest system is to get you to come to the board at least once a day.

  17. How come the tutorial's in PDF format? *Me gags at the thought of adobe*

Google foxit reader for an alternative to adobe's acrobat.

It didn't seem much like a tutorial. It was very brief, short, and did not have much content. I would wait until you have a full tutorial on d3d before you release.

BTW I think DirectX is horrible, openGL ftw :)

Though that is a bit hypocritical since I'm working on a HL2MP mod (in which the engine uses DirctX).
