Okay, I've added a cronjob to Johnny to run at 5:05 AM daily to run those commands.

Do these issues tend to calm down around midnight to 4 AM?

Over the last week or so Johnny was running a little slow because of some resource abuse by Mono and Tomcat users, but I think I have resolved those issues. Johnny seems to have a more stable server load right now, so hopefully this issue is at least partially resolved. The other admins are correct, though, in suggesting that you move to Stevie if you need more stability.

Johnny already has Python 2.7. I installed 3.2. I'll leave the mod_wsgi configuration to you, as I have been unable to do that in the past. To install alternate versions of Python, follow these instructions: wget http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.x/Python-2.x.tgz tar -xzf Python-2.x.tgz ./configure make make altinstall

I could not find instructions on how to install Python 2.7 as a 64-bit library. I tried to recompile/altinstall Python 2.7 with --enable-shared, but I don't see a .so file in /usr/local/lib/python2.7/config/.

Stevie has been really slow ever since the power disruption, so we're planning a corrective force-fsck on his disks to see if we can correct the problem. The unfortunate part is that this could cause quite a lot of downtime. We'll start the process at 9 PM on Monday night.
