KunstHoster Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Dear HelioNet, First of all I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum. I manage a website for a friend, together we've set up a website on HelioHost. Everything worked fine, I had other things to do so I only visited the site when necessary. After about two months I had to renew the account, worked and the site was online again. Recently I decided to backup the website in case something went wrong. But discovered that the website returned a "Server not found" error. My reaction was to log-in to the cPanel, it failed with the message "We're sorry, but we could not find that username in the database". At first I thought I misspelled the username, doubled checked it and I spelled it correctly. Went to the forums and saw that there were recently problems with some server. Decided to wait in case the problems would be solved by itself. It didn't so I'm writing this post, the sad news is that I don't have a clue which server the site is on. Mailed my friend who can't find the registration mail. I'll post all the information I know: username: boogaard server: ??? The site was using PHP, mysql and that's it. The information that's most needed is the database, it contains some user reactions which can't be reconstructed. Most of the other content can be made again some way or another. Thanks in advance!
jje Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Sorry, I can't find that username in the system. It might have got deleted for inactivity; have you logged into cPanel in the last 30 days?
KunstHoster Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 Hello jje, Sorry, I can't find that username in the system. sad.gif It might have got deleted for inactivity; have you logged into cPanel in the last 30 days? I'm almost certain that the last I logged-in was less than a month ago. Could it have been that it happened if I didn't login through the main-page. I've read that you should log-in using the log-in form on the home page. Not sure if I did that the last time, maybe, maybe not? If it's deleted there's no way of getting a dump of the database? Thanks in advance!
Guest Geoff Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 If it's deleted there's no way of getting a dump of the database? Sorry, the database has been moved to /dev/null, if your account has been deleted. There is no way to get your data back; we don't have enough space to keep backups of inactive accounts.
jje Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 It might have been; we recommend that you login through the HelioHost homepage. Sorry, as Geoff said, all of your data has been deleted. Feel free to create a new account. We have stated clearly that it is the user's responsibility to keep backups of their data: - WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSSES THAT OCCUR IN ANY CONDITIONS THROUGH OR AS A RESULT OF OUR SERVICES!!!
KunstHoster Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 Hello jje and Geoff, Thanks for your responses! We have stated clearly that it is the user's responsibility to keep backups of their data: The irony, I discovered it when I wanted to make a backup.
