Matt Compton Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Hello all, I'm coming to HelioHost from another hosting company that I prefer not to deal with any longer. My domain is kuribosshoes.com, and that currently still points to the old hosting site. It's a WordPress blog that I'd like to migrate over, but I don't want the site to experience any downtime right now. Instead, I'd like to be able to configure it and get it set up before switching my DNS info to Helio's server. Is there a path to access my site for now so that I can get all the WordPress stuff set up? Maybe an IP address or something? I looked around but couldn't find this info in the forums. Thanks!
Wizard Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 No. If you registered for a heliohost subdomain (and added your main domain as a parked domain), you can visit that, but if you registered "kuribosshoes.com", you won't be able to access your site until you point the nameservers to ours.
Byron Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Actually he should be able to login to his cpanel file manager through the home page login, he just won't be able to see his site until he points his ns to us.
Matt Compton Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 Gotcha. I can access my cPanel just fine and have installed WordPress on it. I just can't do anything with it at the moment since work must be done within the CMS. I guess I should've registered a heliohost domain first. That's my bad. Thanks!
Guest Geoff Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 If you add heliohost's IP in your C:\WINDOWS\drivers\etc\HOSTS file, you can get early access to your site.
