nilayz Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I can't access much of my site, coz whenever I type in http://nilay.co.in/something... it is getting redirected to www.nilay.co.in, which in turn is never getting "looked up". I tried out DNSReport (http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=www.nilay.co.in). Here's what they've got to say: FAIL: You have one or more missing (stealth) nameservers. The following nameserver(s) are listed (at your nameservers) as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the the parent nameservers (therefore, they may or may not get used, depending on whether your DNS servers return them in the authority section for other requests, per RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these stealth nameservers are working; if they are not responding, you may have serious problems! The DNS Report will not query these servers, so you need to be very careful that they are working properly. ns2.heliohost.org. ns1.heliohost.org. This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example). I also tried out DNSStuff (http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=www.nilay.co.in&type=A) for my A record. Searching for www.nilay.co.in A record at a.root-servers.net [198.41.0.4]: Got referral to NS1.REGISTRY.in. [took 5 ms] Searching for www.nilay.co.in A record at NS1.REGISTRY.in. [203.190.137.201]: Got referral to ns6.jump-server.net. [took 267 ms] Searching for www.nilay.co.in A record at ns6.jump-server.net. [63.246.154.31]: Got CNAME of nilay.co.in. and referral to ns2.heliohost.org. [took 72 ms] Searching for nilay.co.in A record at ns2.heliohost.org. Ashoat Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Ermm wrong nameservers, those ones only work on the not-yet-configured VPS. Right ones are ns5.jump-server.net ns6.jump-server.net
nilayz Posted November 8, 2005 Author Posted November 8, 2005 I have used those jumpserver nameservers only. Is that problem occuring because I deleted those _private, _vti blah blah folders?
majazac Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 problably. i deleted it and my site didn't work. djbob even lectured me about not doing that... lol... he'll have to restart your site

majazac Posted November 10, 2005 Posted November 10, 2005 yep. thoughy the same way... we're wrong... ask djbob that he'll fix that. just don't delete it anymore
