Purely Me Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Some times when i edit a file and upload it my whole web site goes down and i get a 500 error. For me to fix this error somtimes i have to remove the file i edited before i upload it. Why is this happening and is there a way i can prevent it from happening? Also i'm having trouble accessing my ftp and cpanel today and i dont know why.
Byron Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 What kind of files are you uploading; cgi/perl, php, html? Have you checked the Error Log at your cpanel?
Purely Me Posted January 27, 2010 Author Posted January 27, 2010 What kind of files are you uploading; cgi/perl, php, html? Have you checked the Error Log at your cpanel? I'm Using PHP and the error log says nothing pertaining to what might have caused this. Just php syntax errors that have been fixed already.
Byron Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I'm thinking that some of your 500 errors were just a coincidence of the problems we have been having over the last few days and nothing to do with your site. If you keep having the same problems let us know.
Dragon_Legion Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Im having the same type of problems. Ive not edited the .htaccess files or any files period today and every page seems to be running on a 500 error. Possibly something in the main vhost config file?

Byron Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 problem is gone now but site: empire.helihost.org user empire if it helps you. It was probably somebody abusing server resources.

Byron Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 im still getting the 500 error purelyme.co.cc user name purelyme If this is not a constant error than it's because of server resources abuse and the admin. is working on it.
Molly Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Hello, I've been receiving the 500 Internal Server Error message too. It's been constant since Sunday, not intermittent. Domain name: libcont.heliohost.org Username: libcont Here's what I've done: 1. I set up a new account with HelioHost about a month ago. 2. I set up a web site with the domain "libcont.heliohost.org" and it was working fine until I parked a new domain on 1/29. 3. Last week I acquired a new domain "librarycontentcollection.com" from godaddy. I set up the name servers with godaddy to ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org. 4. On Friday (1/29) afternoon, I parked the domain "librarycontentcollection.com" on my heliohost domain with no redirection. On Friday and Saturday, I received the message "HelioHost Account Queued..." for both accounts. Sunday and Monday I received a "500 Internal Error" message for both accounts. 5. On Tuesday (2/2), I removed the parked domain. but I'm still receiving the 500 Internal Error message on all pages of libcont.heliohost.org. Parking and then unparking the new domain were the only changes I've made. Everything worked fine before. Most of my pages are simple html, just a few php's. I checked it on a completely different service provider and still get the error message. What do I need to do to get this working? Thanks very much for your help! Molly
Byron Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 If your not using your htaccess file in your root directory then try removing it.
Molly Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 That fixed it. Thank you!!! Molly libcont.heliohost.org
Byron Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Go ahead and park your domain again and if it recreates the htaccess file again, just delete it.
Purely Me Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 i've had a 500 error for like 4 hours now and no change and i was wondering if you were doing work on the servers causing it
